After getting the word from Helene that it's not that unusual to arrive in Istanbul at 3am, I bought plane tickets! Manning and I leave on Thursday, October 20th, from Charles de Gaulle airport. We transfer in Ljubljana, Slovenia and arrive in Istanbul, Turkey at 2:50am on Friday, October 21st. The one-way tickets were just $133 USD (plus about $70 in taxes). I couldn't resist!
It's so nice to know that there's a starting point now. We'll have an entire weekend in Turkey to hang out with Helene, and we don't have to be back in Paris until November 8th. That's 19 days, if we want. From here, I'm probably going to contact any and all friends/Hospitality club members about staying with them in Romania, Hungary, and Austria, but I'm not going to necessarily plan a day-by-day itenerary. We'll just go, and figure it out on the way. What freedom!
Anyway, now I can go back to being excited about the trip that is happening in just two weeks - Berlin, Prague, Poland. Not much planned out for that either, but still not worried about it.
