I'm slowly starting to put together a plan...
*Fly from Paris to Istanbul. Spend a few days there, sleep at Helene's apartment.
*From Istanbul, travel north to Romania (through Bulgaria), probably with Bucharest being the first destination.
*Spend about 4-5 days traveling from eastern to western Romania. Spend at least 2 days around Brasov.
*Keep heading west to Budapest, hopefully stay with this guy Adam that we met in Normandy. See the sights in a day or two.
*Keep heading west through Austria, and hopefully see Agnes, a Paris friend who is living out there for 6 months.
*Since Switzerland is right there, maybe take some time to see the Alps?
And head back to Paris.
The only thing I really want to plan is Paris ---> Istanbul. From there, I'm thinking about taking local trains and/or hitchhiking. I know there's plenty of Hospitality Club members in all these places so that I think we'd only stay in a hostel once or twice (if we feel like it). I have my eye on a one-way ticket to Istanbul for about $200, everything included.
Thoughts? Would this make for a good 2-week trip, or is that too rushed?
