Just got home :)

I have been neglecting this journal lately, and I totally forgot to mention that I was going to Clare for the weekend with my family (my family being mum, dad and sister). We left on Friday morning, and for the past two nights we stayed at the Clare Country Club. Had a good weekend, all up!

The Country Club was quite a nice place to stay. It was a shame it was so cold, though- it would have been great to sit outside or wander around, but the weather was cold and rainy for almost the entire weekend. On Saturday, we spent the day in Burra on a 'historical trail' which again could have had better weather but was still fascinating. I got to play around with period clothes at the Town Hall, and the old jail/girl's reform school was definitely interesting.

My favourite part of the entire weekend was visiting Martindale Hall, perhaps one of the most beautiful Georgian mansions in South Australia. As soon as I walked into the foyer, my breath was just taken away...it was stunningly ornate. I can just imagine myself there in a large flouncy period dress, socialising with the rich and powerful...*sigh* I'd kill to live there. 11,000 acres...

The weather fined up, and last night I finally watched 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' (I had an interesting Photoshop saga with the cover of this movie, but had never seen it). It was brilliant, loved it. Also read Wuthering Heights on the weekend, which was a great book.

Today, it was nigh on impossible to find somewhere to stop for lunch...everywhere was either crappy or ridiculously expensive or had nothing on the menu. We finally found a cute little teahouse/antique shop and stopped there to eat, which was nice. Those antique shops were everywhere. We bought two small landscape paintings because they were cheap and the frames were pretty (lol) and one of those massive, 160+ year old family bibles. It needs extensive repairing, but it is damn cool. The Clare Valley was so historical...everywhere you looked, you could see the Victorian Era. There were beautiful paintings and prints everywhere, which was one of my favourite parts. I didn't see an ugly modernist monstrosity all weekend.

I am glad I am home, though...tonight, I think my sister and I will give Assassin's Creed another go. :)
