I do almost all of my Christmas shopping online, and I've done it that way... geez, for probably at least the last four Christmases now, mostly because December is massive crunch time at work and I just don't have the time to go out and do it. But also because it's more convenient and cheaper.

Buying for dads SUCKS. My dad is exactly like yours. Only likes certain things, and doesn't need anything. Buys himself anything he wants right then, too. Surefire win for my dad: basketball tickets. Before that, it was an Amazon gift certificate. I also try for the mini-surprise though. This year, I got him a PGA hat.

I used to be one of those people who wanted to be surprised, but then I realized that the older I got, the harder it got to buy for me, too, so I always try to have a wide, varied list. It drives me nuts when people say, "Oh I don't know what I want" or "I don't care". YES YOU DO! YOU HAVE TO! If I purchased you, say, a Chia pet, you would wonder what the hell was wrong with me. I can come up with ideas, but I like it if someone gives me a general category. Like, "I want some new video games" or "My favorite color is navy blue".

Overall though, I love Christmas shopping, especially when I know the person is totally gonna dig what I get them. I love seeing them unwrap it and be all, ZOMG!

I asked Santa for perfume and a pair of rain boots. And because my mom is Internet-shopping-challenged, I HAD TO ORDER THEM MYSELF. I ordered my own Christmas presents. That is hilarious.

Finally updating...did your Dad like his hat? My Dad showed a mild appreciation for his mug. He said he would "add it to his collection." The fact that he'd been there gave me an extra half-point or so of appreciation. He totally loved the Amtrak gift cert though.

Ros got me a turkey deep fryer. OMGWTFGOBBLEGOBBLE!!!

He did like his hat, actually. He only wears it when he goes out, because it's his "good hat".

A TURKEY DEEP FRIAR!??! GOBBLE MOTHERFUCKIN' GOBBLE!!! That rules, almost as much as bass.
