So today I almost died. And then I got in a car accident.

I dunno, I guess when I say that I am allergic to peanuts and the other party understands me perfectly well, as in the case where I go to this shop every day for lunch almost, and order the same thing consistently, I expect understanding. It really isn't so hard to *not* put peanuts on the food, and it even saves them money because they charge me ( Read more... )

Wow, what a terrible day. :( I'm really sorry to hear about that restaurant incident. I mean, what the fuck?! If someone has an allergy it should be understood that the food needs to be re-made. I can't believe they would just scrape off the nuts and give it back to you. That's serious business. You could have had major problems and it would have been totally on them. *hugs* I'm glad that you spotted the danger ( ... )

*hugs* I'm glad to hear you're still alive and (mostly) okay.

I knew you had a peanut allergy but had no idea it was so bad. Can you at least be in the same room as a peanut dish without it triggering your allergies?

I'm confused--didn't the SUV get dented? That still counts as a damage. So why would it not need to be reported? And it's so stupid of people to say don't report it. If you're insured, it's not like you can hide from them anyway. If people were just more careful, their premiums wouldn't have to go up. Not to mention, more importantly, the roads would be a great deal safer!

Even if there is damage to a vehicle, if the damage is under $1,000 and no one is hurt then the accident doesn't need to be reported. I agree that does seem silly to me as well especially given how scary and disconcerting that it was for David. A lot of times people will just talk amongst themselves for minor damage and work it out for insurance purposes, but I think there needs to be more accountability. Granted, given the state of drivers, I think damage reporting centres would be overrun if every little accident was reported. Mistakes happen, but people need to be alert.

Yeah, most people with peanut allergies need to consume the thing itself to have an allergic reaction... The thing is, I was already eating it by the time I realized (by seeing one on my fork). I was a little panicky that I might have eaten one and it was time delayed, but about 5 minutes after I threw the food out, my throat started getting scratchy, etc. The pharmacist gave me some anti-allergic reaction medicine so I didn't need to call an ambulance, but that was just from eating food that was touching the nuts, not the nuts itself. If I had actually swallowed any it would have been a different story. Just think of people who are allergic to say wool fibers, and it gives them a rash. Getting a severe rash on the inside of my throat is a food allergy. If it doesn't go in, it can't hurt me ( ... )

I'm not severely allergic to peanuts, although I am allergic. It does drive me a little crazy when I ask for no peanuts and they still serve dishes with them =/

Glad you didn't end up eating it! Peanuts can sneak into all sorts of food. D:
Peanut powder looks like almond powder and other suchly deviously deceptive food products.

Jeez man.. it sounds like your having a hell of an awful time... I hope you get your jeep sorted out. I'm seriously face-palming over the fact that people think they can brush some peanuts off your food and think its ok. I don't really have much to add on top of what everyone already said soooo here's a video of a baby panda struggling to climb a single stair.
