Sofie finally got her diagnosis. She probably has 6-12 months to live.

She has an incredibly rare right-to-left patent ductus arteriosus, or reverse PDA, where the fetal duct meant to bypass the lungs remains open after birth and continues shunting blood past the lungs. There aren't any surgeries or treatments for it. If she only had a left-to- ( Read more... )

I'm so VERY sorry, sweetheart. As one who lost a dear friend (Hobbes) not so long ago, I know that heartbreak - and it will be even more so for you, given that it isn't as sudden.

I wish I was closer so I could deliver this in person, along with a shoulder to cry on, but:
