Sofie finally got her diagnosis. She probably has 6-12 months to live.
She has an incredibly rare right-to-left patent ductus arteriosus, or reverse PDA, where the fetal duct meant to bypass the lungs remains open after birth and continues shunting blood past the lungs. There aren't any surgeries or treatments for it. If she only had a left-to-right PDA, which is really common and easily fixed. But no. We don't have that kind of luck.
Am heartbroken.
