Jeff has been moved in for about 2 weeks now and things are going well. He kind of needs to learn how to deal with mom, but I expected as much. Stinky and Scooter refuse to leave the basement. Scooter is still very skittish and I'm going to have to use food as a means to get him used to people. He's such a little turd!
We're finally re-doing the kitchen. The new stove came on Friday and is awesome. I really am happy I spent the extra money and got the fancy one. We ordered new cabinets about 2 weeks ago and they should arrive somewhere around the first week in April. So now, we have to decide on a paint color, get the walls painted, and move all the crappy Ikea kitchen gear out of there before the new cabinets come. Though, the moving part should only take a few hours - it's the packing up all the stuff in the cabinets that will take a while. As far as paint goes, I think I'm leaning towards a light lavender. The cabinets are a natual oak finish and I'm thinking of a dark granite counter top with green flecks. Though I'm thinking I might do a jade paint to match the green flecks in the counter top. When it gets closer to the cabinets arriving, we will go and get the dishwasher and a range hood. I haven't decided if I want to do a built-in microwave or not. I think that might be something I decide on once I see how much money is left.
Work is back to being slow. With the impending layoffs proposed by the mayor, I'm a little worried. I feel a whole lot better if they specifically said where the jobs will be coming from. I think most of them will be from the Department of Public Works because of the trash pick-up changing. Others are coming from elsewhere and those are the ones I'm worried about. There will only be like 20 or 30, but there's a small possibility that one of those 20 or 30 could be me. My boss assures me other wise, but you just never know. My only consolation is that I could go back to work for Evan full time until I find something else. I know I won't be unemployed. Just underemployed.
Don't get me wrong - it's a nagging at the back of my mind. If I thought there was a substantial chance I'd be on the chopping block, I wouldn't be re-doing the kitchen. If something does happen, the kitchen renovation will cease. I'm not irresponsible with my money.
But anyway, that's what's going on in Angie-land. I hope you're all well!
