I found an APARTMENT!
So...an offhand comment earlier today led to me finding the PERFECT apartment to live in next year. I stopped by the Deli (the site of my enslav...erm...employment) to check my schedule for next week. I tracked down Sandra (because she had the schedule) and was pestering her to let me see it. I asked her if she thought that we'd be busy tonight, because I was on call at 6 and wondering what the chance that I'd have to come in was. She asked if I could hostess from 5-11...I was like "Sure. Though I may be a few minutes late-I'm seeing an apartment at 4:30, but that shouldn't take too long." And she was all "You're looking for an apartment. I'm trying to rent an apartment. Well actually I'm trying to rent the basement of my house. Bed room, huge closet/study room, living room, private bathroom, share the kitchen upstairs. All utilities included. About 10 minutes out route 322. Come and see it tonight after work."
So, I went and the place was incredible. She's lonely because her husband is in Iraq and his deployment is going to last another 11 months. The bedroom and the closety/study room thing actually used to be a recording studio so it's all sound proofed. And there's brand new furniture in the living room...and she's got a tv and vcr and stuff that she's gonna leave in there for me. The house sits on a one acre plot of land and is so nice and isolated and yet still conveniently close to campus. And the best part...she only wants $400/month. w00t *to borrow a turn of phrase* I went through a dingy basement apartment yesterday that was $450 a month unfurnished plus utilities plus 55/month for a parking space. I'm so freaking excited! I've been so worried about finding a place. I kept dragging my feet and not deciding...and I'm so glad now because I'm in love with this apartment!
