Attempt Number 1

Attempt number one in making bread has been a failure. The bread turned out too salty (despite the fact that I used only half of the amount of salt one should use) and the loaf did not rise for reasons unknown. What could have happen with the yeast not rising is that the yeast died. If exposed too hot water it'll just kill it. I often have that problem when i bake with yeast.

Sounds like an easy recipe.

I figured I should use something easy for my first time. A bread virgin, I am not longer.

I'm certainly not an expert but a few suggestions:
-1-1.5 teaspoons of salt is usually what I put in (your new modification seems right).
-Make sure you mix the salt in really well with the flour before adding the yeast
-1 teaspoon might still not be enough yeast, but depends how long you rise it for
-Add the liquid in small amounts because you might not need it all, and that should help with the stickiness

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a go the next time.
