Yes, but to actually successfully attack him on the Economy you actually have to have better economic ideas than him. To date the arch conservative wing of the Republicrat party is too busy worrying about grandstanding for their base on economic matters to actually have a fiscal plan that they can fight with in a general election.

You can't take tax cuts off the board, You have to actually cut military spending, you can't even mention ridiculous crap like NPR or Planned parenthood funding and you have to be willing to tell your followers that you're gonna touch their medicare.

The Bachman's Gingrich'es and Palins of the world have never been able to do that.

A rational fiscal conservative. I... I thought I was alone on this.

I'm with him too on this, though I tend to identify libertarian.

At least in this neck of the woods, you're not as alone :) But I get the feeling this isn't representative overall.

The funny thing is, I'm kinda liberal-ish. At least on some things (I like SocSec and Medicare, and the Obama HCR). But I think that you really need to prioritize, and at the moment, our priorities are all fucked up. Or rather, we have too many equal priorities, and rather than simply allocating our spending as 100% between them all, we've decided to spend 100% on each priority.

You should refer to my last post in libertarianism to see that you're not alone.

Eh, the market argument is unlikely to work on me. I for one think that there are some things more important than efficient markets, and that in today's technological climate, health insurance will not be delivered in sufficient quantity for a large percentage of people were it deregulated.

The one we saved from crashing completely and have been steadily improving despite your best efforts?

That economy?

...the one that exited recession before any of the stimulus money got spent?

It's difficult to say that liberals or Obama "saved" the economy.

Well, I was technically wrong, but only just. According to this, the recession ended in June of 2009. By that time, about $50 billion (less than 10% of the total stimulus) had been spent, most of it in the preceding 30 days - that's a *really* rapid impact if you really think the stimulus caused it.

True this. It can take years for the effect of a new policy to be truly felt, for good or ill.

The collective you, obviously. squidb0i May 3 2011, 04:46:38 UTC
You and your ilk, market fundamentalists, who claim to crave a strong economy and dollar yet do everything you can to cause the opposite. Who claim to love capitalism yet do everything you can to break it.

I can't tell if you're being silly and making fun of moonbats or being serious.
