There were not as many responses to the 2nd post as the first. But, I think that something is starting to develop.

(Purpose.) What's wrong with the way public schools are used?

I think schools SHOULD be devoted to creating well-informed and productive citizens of the republic. What they actually ARE is prisons used to warehouse kids so the parents can work.

Which is unfortunately why they're prisons. SPEND SOME FREAKING TIME WITH YOUR KIDS PEOPLE. XBOX DOES NOT COUNT.

When my mother passed away, I was 8 y/o. I had two older siblings. He worked long hours to provide for us. He was lucky to have an education so that he could get a good job which would provide him with enough pay to raise us all on just one job. I'm sure there are parents who *want* to spend more time with their kids but because of economic reasons cannot.

Having said that, yeah, lots of people who can spend time with their kids do not. And that is a problem.

But even so: what if the parent doesn't have an education themselves? They cannot teach their kids what they themselves do not know. Public schools *need* to be of high quality, for the betterment of society they need to be, anyway.
