I've gotten a few more cards in recent days: thank you to rivkat, raspberry_splat, dawnybee, and ladydreamer! Thanks also for the virtual gifts from denyce, bridie, and justforspite. *huggles for all*

I took a break from watching the first season of Merlin to continue with Avatar: The Last Airbender. A few people on my last post proclaimed that it gets better in second season, and, wow, they were right! I ( Read more... )

I totally love Avatar: Last Airbender (well, the series, the movie was...eh, though I think Zuko's relationship with his uncle in the movie seems less creepy).

LOL. You think their relationship is creepy? I think it's kind of sweet, actually, the way Iroh looks out for Zuko.

Wait until you start with season 3. The ish hits the fan and it becomes awesome. I really think the addition of Toph, the inclusion of Azula, and the development of Zuko really bring the second season up and push the third season over the top. The series finale is a thing of beauty.

That said, I've started watching the series again (I started back when it was airing on TV), and yes, the first season is the hardest to get through. This is kinda backwards, as usually the show gets worse the longer it goes, but I think the plot became a lot tighter.

I haven't seen the live action movie though. I saw clips and it didn't excite me, not even in the, "OMG this is gonna be such a bad movie!" kinda way. Sad, because since it was doomed to fail from the beginning, it could at least have been hilarious like that Dragonball movie.

I just popped in the first disc today. Looking forward to it!

I agree 100%; it's definitely weak compared to season two. Unfortunately, I suppose you can't really skip season one if you want the full effect of the show.

I've heard such terrible things about it, I really don't want to risk sullying my opinion of the show by watching it. I am slightly curious about who they cast for the main characters, though.

I've only ever heard good things about Avatar (the series I mean).

I managed to get my family hooked on the show without actually watching any myself! I should really steal the dvd back so I can watch it. They seem to be enjoying S2 as well!

Yay! I love how they developed the characters in season 2, especially Zuko. It's rare for me to love pretty much all the characters in a show, but I think I do in A:TLA. And there's some great stuff coming up in season 3!

I just finished season three a few days ago, and I have to say, there were some great episodes in there, but the ending seemed too pat. Otherwise, lovely show.
