My Way: A Lex Luthor Mix with covers by the fabulous icalynn

My Way: A Lex Luthor Mix (zip file, 64MB) Click to download.

This is an odd mix that probably says more about me than it does about Lex Luthor, but I felt compelled to gather it together and present it to you. These are all songs that I considered vidding at one time or another. Actually, there is one song on the list below that I fully intend to use for my Epic Lex Vid. I leave it to you to guess which one it is. :)

"When Will I Get to Sing 'My Way'" by Sparks

When do I get to sing "My Way"
In Heaven or Hell

This is my disco!Lex song. The feeling of frustration speaks of latter seasons Lex to me, when he is on his way to being the Big Damn Villain, but is constantly thwarted in his quest for power and knowledge.

"The Contender" by Royal Crown Revue

Now my eyes may be swollen
with right hooks and tears
but I see salvation tonight
in a left and a right

I see Lex as the ultimate scrapper. He gets knocked down (and knocked out!) again and again, but he keeps getting back up.

"Fighter" by Christina Aguilera

If it wasn't for your torture
I wouldn't know how to be
this way now
and never back down
Thanks for making me a fighter

Yes, Lex + Christina Aguilera=MAGIC. Hee. I see this song as something that Lex might say to Lionel or Clark.

"Walk Away" by Kelly Clarkson

You think I'm stupid
But the truth is that it's Cupid, baby
Loving you has made me this way
So before you point your finger
Get your hand off my trigger

I'm really indulging my interpretation of Lex as Drama Queen here. This one is addressed to Clark, of course.

"I'm Not Crying" by Flight of the Conchords

I'm not crying; it's just been raining on my face...

*chortle* I had this montage planned. Nothing but clips of Lex with tears running artistically down his cheeks. HAHAHA. Oh, Lex.

"Tragic" by Happy Rhodes

Although we share pain and despair
Somehow you are predisposed to suffer the most

This is my self-indulgent, over-the-top Lex-as-woobie song. *loves* It would have been hard to vid though, because the POV I wanted was that of the fangirl speaking to Lex. Convoluted, to say the least.

"Sweet Religion" by Imogen Heap

Written in that book of love
Well, does it say your name above
The name by which they call me
And is it written in liquid red
Nothing else will do instead
For reassuring immortality
Will you be there when I need you,
My sweet little religion?

So, Smallville wants to throw religious imagery at me? Fine. Why don't I just give it a Clexy twist? Clark is Lex's religion. *smirks*

"Gone Daddy Gone" by Gnarls Barkley

It's gone daddy gone
The love is gone

Bye bye, Lionel!!

"Airport Song" by Guster

Who's your daddy, I'm your daddy now...I'll be hiding in
your dirty room. I'll go there seeking only what I need.
La de da we'll stay there till we bleed.

This is Lex speaking to Clark in their final scene in the Fortress. "I love you like a brother, Clark, but it has to be this way." Eep.

"Tristan" by Patrick Wolf

Stuck on a line
of misadventure
I fear no crime

I am the victim
and the murderer

A lot of Patrick Wolf's songs make me think of Lex. This is my favorite.

"Don't Touch My Bikini" by The Halo Benders

There's nobody who can break me
Like you break me
When you hate me
Extra crazy on top

The lyrics of this song are a jumbled mess of insanity and crazily right for Lex.
