It's the last one~!  *rejoices*

JAPANESE PARK

Miyata introduces this section, saying that this guy would be singing their dai-sempai’s song.  Kitayama Hiromitsu.  Zambara.

I’m a little strange and have a really wide range of people that I like.  Most people know of Matchy because of the song he did with Question?, but I’ve liked Matchy for a really long time and often listen to his songs.  ANYWAY.  I nearly cried when they said Kitayama would be singing Zambara.  I’d seen Matchy perform it on Utaban (maybe?  Nakai was one of the hosts, but it was a special on Matchy since it’s his 30th year anniversary) but man, Kitayama performing it right there in front of you is just something else.  This report is supposed to be about the April 1st show, but for the March 30th show, I had center seats and Kitayama was right there, dressed in his Playzone Inori outfit, with a red light hitting him from behind and that is just an image that will stay with me for a really long time.  I listen to the song, close my eyes, and that’s what I see.

He performs it on the center of the main stage, dressed in the kimono-esque outfits from Playzone’s Inori (sword included).  Just him, no juniors, and he just stands there and sings.  They tease Kitayama for being tiny and short but I assure you, none of that matters during moments like this.

In general, Kitayama’s vocal range is slightly lower than most of the songs Kisumai sings, but Zambara is like perfect for him.  When he hits those low notes, they’re just so rich and vibrant.  I’m trying really hard not to fangirl and gush, but it’s so hard not to.

When he finished singing, the same junior that had stood with him during the Pierrot Park segment comes out, carefully carrying something in his hand.  Matchy sent Kitayama an autographed version of the Zambara CD (it even had Kitayama’s name on it).  I thought Kitayama was going to cry.  He was smiling so widely and even fell to his knees at one point.  He was like, 「ざんばら、歌って良かった〜!」(“Thank god I sang Zambara~!”)  He told everyone that the first CD he’d ever purchased was actually Matchy’s “Midnight Shuffle”.

They had to move on to the next song, so Kitayama carefully handed the CD back to that Junior and told him to treat it with care on the way back stage.  He even walked the kid back to the stairs to make sure he didn’t fall and drop the CD.

I was really happy that they did the Playzone version of Inori.  I love everything about it, from the outfits to the music arrangement.  Love it.  Which is a little funny since I can’t really say that I like the regular version of Inori too much.  It took a while for it to grow on me.

Anyway.  Kitayama and Fujigaya have katana, Tamamori, Senga, and Yokoo have umbrellas (traditional type), and Nikaido and Miyata hold fans (Miyata’s is pink).  For most of the song, they have the items tucked into the obi of their kimono, and then they pull them out during the slow bridge thing where Kitayama does the counting thing (does anyone else know where I’m talking about?)

It’s pretty.

And then to follow with Fire Beat?  Oh my god.  At the first show, they only took their right arms out of their sleeves initially and Nikaido was the first to take his left arm out too (he needed to in order to do the back flip), but then at the other shows, they were shirtless from the start.  I personally like the first version better, ‘cause I like that image, but that’s just me.  They showed Fire Beat a little in the news clips and then there was one photo from it that was used in one of the larger morning newspaper articles.  I’m just going to say it here.  I did not like that photo they printed in the newspaper.  First of all, there’s only 4 of them in the picture and it’s the only picture in that article.  Secondly, the 4 of them that are shown don’t even look very good in it.  And honestly, if I were to choose one photo to represent them and all the hard work they’ve put into this concert, that would be the last photo I’d choose.  Bah.

FUJIGAYA!  GET OVER YOUR “FAT” ISSUES!  Seriously.  The boy is NOT fat, but he’s obviously uncomfortable being topless.  Earlier when they were changing into the Miya-T’s, he was originally the only one wearing a tank top.  In Fire Beat, the obi is pulled higher up his torso than the others.  He won’t bend over to do the head-banging thing.  He holds the sleeve of his kimono to cover his chest during other parts of the dance too.  Maybe he thinks he pudges if he bends over?  Who knows… but GET OVER IT.  YOU’RE JUST ATTRACTING ATTENTION TO IT.

Haha…  I’m laughing before I even get to the next part.  After Fire Beat, they do this chant/cheer thing.  Tamamori goes to stand on the Comedy Park platform and Senga goes to the Pierrot Park one.  They’re still half naked.  They do this chant thing where they go, “Hey! Hey! Hey, hey, hey! Hey! Hey! Go Squeeze Out!”

SKIP THE NEXT PARAGRAPH.  CONFUSING AND TOTALLY NOT NECESSARY FOR YOU TO READ.

If I wanted to go all band geek on all of you, it’s in 4/4 time and mostly in an eighth-note pattern.  So if it’s “1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and” (the ‘and’s are the eighth-note up-beats), then it goes “(rest) HEY! (rest) HEY!  (rest) HEY, HEY, HEY!  (rest) HEY! (rest) HEY! (rest) Go Squeeze Out! (rest on the upbeat of 4)” ßThe “Squeeze Out” is in a 16th-note pattern.

The first time they did it, we had no clue what we were supposed to do… which probably had a ton to do with the fact that THEY didn’t know what they were doing.  It got much better as the concerts went on since they figured out who would lead which parts and we sort of got the hang of it… and by the last Yokohama concert, someone put their thinking cap on and added the lines to the VTR screens.

Fujigaya and Nikaido come out again, saving Tamamori and Senga, taking their place to keep the chanting going.  Fujigaya leads most of it.

Kis-My-Me-Mine… I really don’t think they’re allowed to NOT perform it.  This time, it’s Kitayama, Yokoo, and Miyata up in the carts.  Kitayama started right behind us.  This was sort of worked into the concert just in time for the 3rd show.  Up until then, those three just never made it up there.

They’re dressed in the same white/off-white tops they wore during the Brand New Season portion, but their pants are beige and sparkly this time.  …. …… Did I describe their Brand New Season outfits?  *checks*  Oops.  Not really, yeah?  I only remember Kitayama’s in any case and Rachel says that Nikaido's is just a white button-down shirt, but it was fitted.  Kitayama was wearing a ¾ length sleeve white shirt with a cowell neckline and a long vest, but it’s the kind that looks like it could be a wrap around thing?  Like, it’s a very long, flowing material (that he totally plays with when he raises his arms…  ^^;).  They’re also on their skates again.  Kitayama and Fujigaya is wearing that fedora hats (the ones from the Tension outfits), while Tamamori is wearing his headdress.  Rachel swears that this version is different from the one in MS (Rachel: "god, they have TWO VERSIONS of those things? EW")

Hmm… nothing in particular really stuck out for me during this song.  It was mostly just crowd interaction…. OH.  Tamamori fell on the ramp between Pierrot Park and Ghost Park.  I guess his feet were going faster than the rest of him, so when he started going up on the other side, he just fell backwards.

Fujigaya kinda scooched towards the edge of the Ghost Park platform, the way you do when you aren’t sure if the other person is ok.  He confirmed that Tamamori was ok before asking again into the mike.  It was like, make sure he’s actually ok and then announce to everyone else that Tamamori just fell on his ass.  Haha…

They sang Sennen no Love Song next and the three that were up in the carts hurried to get back to the stage.  And they all met on the middle stage before skating towards the main stage in a line.

Eien no Ticket is a really pretty song.  It’s new for them and each of them have clear singing parts.  Well… Senga, Yokoo, Miyata, and Nikaido have one word each, but it’s a slow song, so you can actually hear them.  Yokoo is kinda like the Shige of the group vocal wise.  Not to be mean, but he’s definitely the weakest vocally.  MIYATA.  Ok.  There’s that line in the song that goes…

「またね」「今度ね」「ありがとう」「最高」と

Senga sings that “Mata, ne”.  Yokoo sings “Kondo, ne”.  MIYATA sings, “Arigatou” and Nikaido sings that last, “Saikou to.”  MIYATA sings that.  The first time I heard that, I turned to Rachel and was like, WHAT?!  When Miyata sings seriously and isn’t goofing off, he sounds so good.  Actually, Tamamori sounded really good too.  Maybe this style of song just suits his voice better, ‘cause in other ones, it’s a little too thin to be taking lead (like in Hair).

During the first concert, they just sang the song and were like, “Ok… thanks for coming everyone~!” and we were kind of left hanging.  It didn’t feel like the ending of a concert.  THANKFULLY, they fixed this from the second concert on.  In the middle of the song, they all pick up heart shaped boards that they wrote their wishes on.  Each of their boards were their own color.  As they skated down the walkway to the middle stage (slowly), they individually read out what they had written.

At the middle stage, that cylinder of large discs had come down again and they each hung their negai onto little hooks that had been attached to some of the discs.  When they were all done, they watched the cylinder retract, taking their negai upwards.  Kitayama said that they would work hard so that their wishes would come true.

3/30, 1800 Show - NONE

3/31, 1400 Show

3/31, 1800 Show

4/1, 1400 Show

It’s so sweet that they did this.  I wonder who came up with this idea whether it be one of the boys or one of the staff.  Whoever it was, THANK YOU, because it was just really nice and a great way to bring the concert to a close.

They go to finish the song on the main stage, going up to the bridge to wave good-bye to everyone.  At the end of the song, they split in half to skate out the side doors.  This is how wide that bridge is.  It connects two of the doors that lead to the hallway that the fans used to get to their seats.  So technically, the part that they stand on is the same height as the tachimi seats.

ENCORE  Also, by the 2nd concert, they’d pre-recorded this thing that kinda leads to an automatic encore.  It comes pretty fast (probably cause they really don’t have anywhere to go once they skate out those doors... TRAPPED) and they all have their tickets in their hands.

They did Kis-My-LAND again.  I can’t even accurately describe how much I like this song.  I’ve come to like that weird introduction of the 7 parks thing in the middle, but even from the get go, the rest of the song was enough for me to overlook that part.  The dance is fun, even though I do it funny (I’m kinda like YamaRyo and add extra things in it… BUT I FIXED IT for the Fukuoka show.)  Yeah.  People do it with their penlights, but I still like doing it with just my ticket.

Why they do Winning Run is a little beyond me since there are other songs that they could use, but I can’t deny that it’s fun and a good encore song… It’s just not their’s.  I believe they do sign boards during Winning Run.

You know?  I’m pretty sure they had their last Yokohama concert at 2pm for a reason… maybe they needed to go somewhere after?  Like down to Fukuoka?  Who knows, but we got like 4 encores from them.

ENCORE 2 - TENSION

ENCORE 3 - Kis-My-Calling

ENCORE 4 - Sennen no Love Song

ok.  This is all I have at the moment for this report.  I'll be back over the weekend to fill in those last bits if you're interested in coming back.  They said some pretty awesome things... I'm just really tired.  I apologize, but they're going to have to wait until I recharge...  but I will say that Goseki's awesome, never pick a fight with Nika, and someone's message made Kitayama cry.

Overall, I loved the concert.  Over the course of this tour I will be seeing it... 10 times?  I will get to making notes about the Fukuoka show ('cause I don't know if I'd be able to get a full report out of me for a while... not after this one.) but I really want to complete this one first and I'm sure people have translated other reports (I haven't seen my f-list in a week... kinda scared to look).

Hope you enjoyed the report, even though it's ridiculously long.  Again, to my f-list, I'm sorry for spamming.  If you want to comment on anything, please do.  ^-^
