Mizuki rolled on to her side and slowly opened her eyes with a groan. Grass? Land? Where on earth was she? What the hell happened?

Images flashed through her foggy memory. Dante...the idiot Moersho...Mia's death...the Durani whose name she never learned...the ghost ship from hell...they must have been sunk by that demonic thing. Was she the only one to survive?

Mizuki slowly sat up. Who had rescued her? She looked to her left...and what should meet her gaze? A dragon!

"SEI-UNKO!*" she cried out, trying to jump to her feet, but swaying off balance to her knees. If she was going to have to fight this thing, she was in big trouble.

*SEI-UNKO=HOLY SHIT!

Mizuki landed in the arms of a small, but strong girl. "Do not be afraid." the girl said, staring down at the assassin with pale grey eyes. "You are safe for now."

The young woman steadied Mizuki, and cautiously pulled her to ehr feet. A few yards away, the Dragon stared at the pair with bored eyes. "My name is Cyrene," she said, a smile on her face. "This is Sho." The dragon seemed to purr at the mention of its name. It slowly got to its feet, armor and Harpoon cannons clinking as it stood.

"We are from Kumori-Clan..." A gust fo wind from the inlet caught Cyrene's hair. "Your allies in the far West. What is a member of the Assassin's guild doing out here in The Crossroads?"

Mizuki examined her kind rescuer. She seemed sensible enough. This is just what the Assassin needed...someone she could trust, who had a decent amount of brains.

Mizuki bowed her head in a notion of respect toward the Dragonmaster and her reptilian companion. "Many pardons. I am Mizuki Ripsenka. I am currently hired to find a mark out here. I thought I could find them by boarding a pirate ship...unfortunately, the captain was a baka...a fool, if you will," she explained, not knowing if present company understood Japanese.

A sudden thought crossed her mind...the rest of the crew! "Cyrene-san, did you happen to find anyone else out on the water?" she asked.

Cyrene shook her head, and turned back towards SHo. The Dragon seemed to sense her concern for it stood, and began to take deep lungfuls of the night air.

"At best we can scour the wreckage." CYrene approached Sho, and removed a pair of goggles from a riding bag. "Unfortunatly the Basten Inlet is not part of our territory, as per the Windsail Charter. Sho and I should not be here..."

Cyrene bounded up into a leathery harness attached to Sho's ridged back. "The best we can do is offer you assisstance in finding your friends. If none remain..." SHe paused, looking out to sea. "We will give you transport back to the Kumori Village." Cyrene tossed Mizuki the riding goggles, and offered her a hand.
