The flight from Newark was slightly delayed due to the inbound flight landing a little late. At least, that was the first reason.
The second reason was a group of German teens (with adult chaperones) whose flight (presumably from Germany and arriving at Terminal B, while our plane was at Terminal A) arrived "just in time," came clambering onto the flight and we had to wait for their luggage to follow them.
Not a really horrible delay, by any means. 20 minutes or so total, I think.
Of course, most of them were seated around me. Also not a problem as they were well-behaved. The young lady who sat next to me pretty much read and talked to her advisor the whole time. I was just wishing I had learned German (
cruentum why didn't you force me to learn some basic German during the three days we saw each other???) so I could eavesdrop a bit, or at least ask them why on Earth they were traveling to Omaha NE.
So instead of asking, I had to wait til we disembarked. We walked out past security -- and into a veritable horde of Omaha families with welcome signs. The Germans are here for some sort of short-term exchange program. Very nice! I hope they have a great stay.
I'm still not really sure why I got a rental car, since the hotel turned out to be literally three miles from the airport, right across from the big Qwest Arena, and I'm teaching the on-site for this company in the hotel. Then again, I'll be on my own Thursday night, and there is a "Cancer Survivors Park" on the other side of the city that it might be worth taking a trip to, if the weather cooperates.
Finished the first Remy Chandler book on the flight. Read a few Bram Stoker short stories. Over dinner, I read up on chapter six of Dracula and most of chapter seven.
