So I asked
infinityltd if he had the
grrm Dreamsongs anthologies. He said he did not. So my plan was to go back to Borders tonight quickly after work and pick them up so that I could mail them tomorrow when I go to the post office to pick up a week's worth of mail.
I stopped at home on the way, to take a shower. That delayed me enough that I figured the rush hour traffic for my return trip would be loosened up. I got on 80 East at about 6:50, and quickly saw that the Westbound rush hour traffic was not going to be breaking up any time soon.
I decided to "waste time" at the mall. I had not brought my laptop with me, nor a journal, so sitting in Borders was out. I also had not eaten dinner, but wasn't hungry enough to do a sit-down dinner at one of the restaurants outside the mall.
So I decided to get the haircut I've been delaying. I was supposed to go again with the Aidala boys (aka Nephew Max and Nephew Felix) but Karen and I have not been able to coordinate, so I just did it. I ended up seeing Joyce, the same woman who has cut my hair three out of the last 5 times, and I like her personality and the way she cuts. I think it came out nice!
Then I wandered the mall a little bit, price-checking things in different stores. The video store is running a TV series sale for a couple of weeks, and they seem to have at least one of the Mission Impossible seasons I'm missing as well as all of the Home Improvement seasons (#1-6 if anyone is keeping track; yeah, we've been working backwards). So I may go back after pay day.
Finally made it to Borders. The books I was getting for Eric were inside on the bargain racks, but I decided to peruse the outdoor bargain racks first. I found Barenaked Ladies: The Authorized Biography paperback marked $3.99, a horror-fantasy by Paul Witcover that someone had recommended to me a while back also in paperback for $3.99, and a hardcover of John Gardner's "Moriarity" for $5.99. Inside the store, I grabbed the two Dreamsongs hardcovers ($5.99 each, you'll recall from this morning's post). Wandering the store, I also found the audiobook (on cd) of Jim Butcher's "Small Favor," book 10 of The Dresden Files, read by James Marsters -- for $9.99, almost a quarter of what it normally costs.
So I got five books and a cd set for $26. Had I bought all of them new, it would have totalled around $155.
Not bad at all!
