It's 2am, and I just crossed the 34,000 word line for NaNo. I'm stopping there for the night. I do need to get some sleep.
Because I'll be at my aunt's house for most of Thanksgiving Day and over Thanksgiving night, and internet access will be limited (they don't have a wireless connection as far as I know) I thought I'd put my "what I'm thankful for" post up now.
I'm thankful for my family. To name you all would be an encyclopedia. But to name at least a few: My sister Lorraine, brother in law Stan, nephew Vinnie and niece Renee; Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ed, Aunt June, Uncle John and Aunt Shirley, Aunt Nan, Uncle Johnny and Aunt Ginger, Lauren and Tim and Kaylee and all of my Cardno, Frugis and other cousins;
I'm thankful for the friends I've grown up with from childhood through adulthood: all of the Cornues; The Tumolillos, Kiddoos, Aidalas, Werders, Strattons, Puccios, Barkers, Prices, Friedmans, Murrays, Garry-Opatuts, Masris; The Lambertville Gang (Stephenses, Dales, Dahls, Burds, Michalchuks, Bradys, Mercer-Pontiers and all the rest); the Beacon Gang (Lees, Whites, Bernardis, Takacs, Riccobonis, Cardonas, Steeles and the rest); the Elmira Gang (Lapkins, Leaheys, Witts, Chins, Farrys, Lenways, Schorrs, Opelas and the rest); The Oneida Gang (Reed & Manners, The Dibbles, the Farrs), the STAPA Gang (Dave, Davey, Jim, Dougie, Bob, Simone, and their families) and the Mahopac Gang (Eric and his folks, the Bloom/Moklebust clan, the Wynnes, and all the folks I've recently gotten back in touch with thanks to Facebook).
I'm thankfully for my internet friends: Brad, John, Hunter, Eva, Ryan, Allan, Miguel, Dawn, Carolyn and Nick and the kids, James and Sarah, Jason, Rebecca, Kevin, Rich, Casey, Mario, Delos, John, Steve B., Brian and anyone I'm forgetting (sorry!)
I'm thankful for another year Cancer free for me. I'm thankful for getting "The Firflake" published and for the response it seems to be garnering. I'm thankful for those people who value my opinion on their work. I'm thankful for my job and the opportunities it gives me to travel. I'm thankful that I have a talent for putting words together. I'm thankful for our military who do a hard job with little thanks.
I'm thankful for the writers and actors and directors and musicians and artists who inspire me. Neil Gaiman, Orson Scott Card, T. Corraghessen Boyle, Stephen King, Scott Sigler, Madeleine L'Engle, Robert Silverberg, Jim Butcher, Ellis Peters, Matt Damon, Tim Curry, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Nathan Lane, Carol Burnett, Tim Allen, Meryl Streep, Ridley Scott, Guilermo Del Toro, Bryan Singer, Casey Stratton, Billy Gilman, Coldplay, Alannis Morrissette, The Brady Bastards, Robbie Williams, Andy Goldsworthy and too many others to name.
Mostly I'm thankful to still be here, and to still feel the presence of the people who have left us still around me.
Happy Thanksgiving one and all!
