Well, it was a somewhat sucky day at work, so let's not dwell on that.
One good thing that happened mid-day (despite the fact that I was having a sucky day at work) was the arrival in email of the chapter heading art for The Firflake. I am very happy with what Don has put together for me, but I'm going to sit on it a day or two before I go ahead and send it off to my handler at iUniverse. At any rate, I'd been told if I got the art in by mid-October the book will be on the stands by Thanksgiving. So I'll be ahead of that curve.
After work, had a wonderful long catch-up and then review session with the rest of The Write Direction. Rosemary, Jessie, Marie and I only manage to get together once a month (sometimes not even that), so it's always good to sit in Yetter's Diner and catch up over dinner and then go ahead and get serious about critiquing each other's stuff. I felt bad emailing them the existing 6,700 words of the new section of the book (look! I didn't call it "the prologue!") to them on Sunday night, but they were all happy to get it and read it.
After the meeting I paid a visit to Borders, to find that they had sold out of the 7 copies of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book, which was released today. Thankfully, the Barnes & Noble closer to my house had more than enough copies. I will gladly devour it on the plane tomorrow.
Now I'm just trying to catch up on stuff and wait for last minute laundry to be done so I can finish packing and go to sleep.
