Ok, here's the setup. I bought a scratch off ticket over the weekend, and it's worth $1000. Now, I need to get to the Lottery Office here in town, located on the other side of the city entirely. No problem, I manage to figure out how to get there by bus, and go this morning...
...only to find out that my ID card has expired. This is the same card that I just flew out of Hobby Airport to visit
mshollie earlier in the month, and back from New Orleans. But nope, the ID card had expired back in July!! So much for paying attention, I thought the thing expired in 2012.
So I get back home, gather up all the paperwork I need, and go down to the DMZ to apply for a new ID card. And I wait... and wait... and wait... and finally, an hour and 15 minutes after I get there, I finally go through the motions, pay the cumshaw and get a new state ID. And now, I'll have to make the trip again to get the ticket cashed in.
Maybe it's a good thing that I don't need the cash immediately, this is going into the "Get Tal a Car Fund".
As for all my travels, that's a good 16 miles today on bicycle.12 of that was getting to the DMZ and back. *wince* My legs are going to kill me.
