So here's the deal: I made plans two months ago to take a few days off from work, combined with the Labor Day weekend and go to visit Aki (aka
mshollie) and relax. Everything's going according to plan until the week I'm scheduled to leave. That's when Mother Nature decided to throw a curve ball and spin up a tropical system just off the Louisiana coastline.
Still, I figure I'd go, enjoy the weekend with Aki anyway. So I fly out Thursday night, which is when Tropical Storm Lee starts getting itself together. I get into New Orleans, get picked up and it's off we go... only we don't go anywhere. Friday it storms. Saturday it storms. Sunday it storms. Monday it finally relents, but by then the plans for the weekend are pretty much up in smoke. And of course, Tueday it's a gorgeous day, but I'm flying out back home to Houston.
Still, I can't really complain that much. Being cooped up with Aki does have some advantages... but when you had plans to wander in the French Quarter and a few other spots only to be defeated by the weather, well, such is life. You deal with it... and there will be other times and other trips upcoming.
So home again I am, and tomorrow starts another fun-filled day at work.
