Today I went on a field trip with one of the preschool classes at our center (I also went yesterday with the other 2 classes). This month's field trip was to the Pacific Science Center. Today I had 2 boys I was responsible for. One of them is 4, nearing 5 and the other is 2, almost 3. They were both fun, but I really enjoyed watching the 2 year old. He throughly enjoyed everything he did. He LOVED the space capsule that had lots of buttons and if you pushed the right one it did a countdown and blast off noise. He LOVED the bees, and butterfly's (mostly-- he liked them unless they flew directly at him), and COCKROACHES! Mrs. Piglet wasn't amused, and her co-teacher told me that she wasn't going to entrust any of her kids to me again... but I thought it was kind of funny and cute. The science center has lots of live bugs that you can look at through glass, and they have the butterfly exhibit where you walk around this hot, humid, space with lots of plant life, and butterflies. They also occasionally bring out these cockroaches that they let you hold and touch (with little kids they only let them touch). So the 2 year old petted the cockroach (I'm busy taking pictures of him doing this), and then he quietly asked the volunteer if he could kiss it... and he did! And at that moment my camera died, and so I missed the perfect picture and I'm pouting... but that's all right. It was still fun torturing Mrs. Piglet and a few others with the story- it just would have been a little better if I had the picture to go with it!
