One of those days already

Feb 16, 2006 09:35

It's only 9:30 and already I can tell that it's not going to be a very productive day. For the second day running, it took me 45 minutes to get to work (usually it's 15) because the side streets over which I usually go to work were packed with slow-moving cars. There was a fairly significant snowstorm yesterday and last night -- OK, it was only 8 inches total -- so I guess everyone was avoiding the main streets where accidents are more abundant. I got my driveway snowblown last night, and this morning there was the same amount of snow again. It's the first time this year that we've had this much snow in the valley.

I also didn't get much CPAP sleep last night. I fell asleep listening to the radio before I had managed to put my mask on. I woke up around 5 am and put it on, then about an hour later I got up for a bathroom break and my nose started bleeding a little -- a consequence of the mask blowing air over the delicate nasal membranes.

I'm also sitting here listening to Next Cube Guy deal with his latest crisis: his wife lost the keys to their rental, and he had to call the rental company to get the number so that the locksmith can cut them a new key. Apparently, she's locked her keys in the car twice now, and I hear her call with regularity, every time there's a glitch in her day. Helpless female syndrome, I reckon. Glad I'm not one of those.

Today I have to get information from other people in the company, which means interrupting people and taking up some of their time. I hate doing that. Which is why I'm stalling by updating my LJ. Yay for me.

UPDATE: I ended up having to talk to about a half-dozen people, none of whom I'd met before, and I found out that most of the work I'd done yesterday needed to be deleted because the info I'd been given was outdated. Oh well. I get paid by the hour, not by the project.
