These are all over the place.
Yuletide 2009:
Five Missions Erin Esurance Failed to Complete {1344w, PG13} by
winter_baby. Erin Esurance, Erik Esurance. Have you ever seen
these commercials? I love them; there are even
short cartoons about the lovely Erin. This fic is a fantastic interpretation of the commercial characters. | She thinks she needs a better disguise than just her pink hair if bad guys can recognize her on the street, when she's just a mild-mannered, bespectacled car insurance agent. She barely has enough time to lure them into an alley, away from the crowds, where she takes each tentacle monster out with a good kick to their twenty-five eyes.
Whole New World {2240w, PG13} by
roga. Genie, Aladdin, Jasmine (Disney's Aladdin). The story is from Genie's perspective and is much more heartbreaking and insightful than I would have expected. The author perfectly captures Genie's voice here. | It was one of those moments that Genie remembers forever, as crystal clear as the sky the night Al took Jasmine flying for the first time; like the time that Greek physicist streaked through Syracuse, yelling that he'd "found it!" as the whole street stared, or like seeing Corpor Al getting blown up on a land mine back in the future, or like attending the premiere of "Gone With the Wind" and meeting Leigh and Gable in the flesh.
Torchwood:
Devil in the Details {1021w, PG13} by
joonscribble. Ianto, Owen, Tosh, Gwen. Written as an email exchange taking place between seasons 1 and 2, this is hilarious and in character and just awesome. Spoilers through 1.13, "End of Days." | [Owen:] What sort of virus? The ‘Teaboy Can’t Program Worth Shit’ virus? [...] // [Ianto:] The kind that’s at the moment listing out all the porn sites you’ve been to in the last month on company systems. I didn’t realize there even was such a thing as ‘clown porn.’
Heroes:
An Ordinary Rendition {1331w, PG13} by
visiblemarket.
Hesam (Peter's paramedic friend), Peter. I was immediately drawn to the interaction between these two in the Volume 4 opener, and the author here has done a wonderful job giving Hesam a distinct voice and personality, commenting insightfully on Peter's character along the way. Spoilers through 3.14, "Clear and Present Danger." | See, that’s the thing with Peter: even though you and I know its bull, whatever he’s saying, you believe that he believes it. And hey, man, whatever helps him sleep at night, huh?
