Your mod team is here to announce the second annual takethatslash Big Bang Challenge. This year, to shake things up, we'll be doing a Reverse Big Bang, which means the artists take the lead.
For those of you who haven’t seen a Big Bang Challenge before, it’s a collaborative effort between writers and artists. In a Reverse Big Bang, artists sign up to produce a piece of art, which can be an illustration, a manip, or even a vid. Later in the process, writers can claim a piece of art, and produce a story based on the art with a minimum word count.
We're setting a minimum word count this year of 5,000 words, to encourage as many of you to participate as possible. And remember, that's a minimum. If you're inspired by the boys and our artists and want to write 30,000 or 50,000 or even 100,000 words, we'll cheer you on.
Artists sign-ups will start tomorrow, and run until the July 15. Writer sign-ups will also start tomorrow and close on the August 31. Art first drafts will be due on August 31, and art claims will open to writer on September 5. Final drafts of both stories and art will be due on October 31, with posting to begin in November.
Even if you don't plan on signing up, there will be plenty of opportunities to join in. We'll have regular check in posts, and you can help by cheerleading, volunteering to beta, providing prompts, and generally joining in the festivities. So fire up your word processor, sharpen your pencils, fine tune your Photoshop skills, gear up your vidding software and get set for the biggest bang since the Big One!!!
