Hey flist, I'm trying to gage how possible it would be for me to actually conduct some kind of interviews on online fandom involvement for my master's thesis. Would any of you guys be willing to talk to me, answer some questions? I'm mostly interested in how fandom activities create a separate space for the expression of identity and how relationships form from those bonds. It would probably be through PM or email, and there'd be all the proper confidentiality stuff involved. And I wouldn't start doing it till the summer.

Basically I'm trying to gage if I would have a large enough of a sample to convince my department to let me run rampant with a qualitative thesis. I think I'd need maybe at least 20 or 30 in-depth interviews, and even then they'd be pissy. Otherwise I'm stuck doing math analysis on a Pew Center data set about teens and their Facebook use. I'd much rather move forward in this direction, honestly.

I'm going to leave this unlocked, in case you want to forward this anywhere. Ideally I'd like to try to start a potential list of people who'd be willing to be selected. Halp?

I can be contacted either with a comment here or by email: takemychance AT livejournal DOT com
