John remained silent as Adam was trying to explain what had happened the night before. He was watching the rain roll down the winsheild trying not to listen to the fake explanation Adam had planned out. It was late in the afternoon and they were driving back to the apartment. After a while John decided that he was sick of this situation.
“Adam stop.” He cut him off from whatever he was saying.
“Wha…”
“This is the stupidest thing you’ve done so far and I don’t think it’s going to be the worst thing you do.” John yelled.
Adam didn’t say anything.
“How can you expect me to keep forgiving you over and over again? Do you even think anymore?”
Adam cleared his throat, “Why yes I do, and I’m thinking know that I shouldn’t have even bothered trying to reason with you about this. I just want this relationship to be how it used to.”
They were both quiet for a while. The radio was turned off so they only heard the rain and each other’s breathing. They pulled into a parking spot and sat there for a minute.
John looked at Adam, “Well, maybe I can forgive you…just this last time.”
Adam smiled and leaned over to whisper in John’s ear, “I love you.” Then he kissed John’s cheek.
The rain softened, “I love you too.” John said.
