Thoughts on the first week of school
Educational Psychology- Nice professor, pointless class. It's 50 minutes of cute old man jokes and annoying students who never got enough attention and feel the need to tell a pointless and uninteresting story for 10 minutes anytime the opportunity presents itself. The professor was talking about group work... i hope that comes soon because I don't know how many more classes i can spend looking out the window. On the plus side, unlike my neighbor who has taken to doodling patterns in her planner, I've been journal. Nothing special, just mind dumping. It's been a nice way to start my day. I missed being able to journal and not worry about someone reading it. At the end of the class, i rip out the pages I wrote and I throw them away. It's especially nice because if i was writing about something that upset me I can just let it go.
Geometry- I hate hate hate hate geometry. I'm terrible at it. But luckily this class seems to be pretty straight forward. The professor has a thick accent that i can't place but he's good at giving examples and explaining things. It seems like he really wants us to understand. Plus I made friends with the girl next to me so that makes it easier to sit in class for 2 hours. Hopefully the tests won't be killer and I can continue to do well on the quizzes... which we have everyday.
Foundations of Reading- So excited for this class. The professor is definitely strict but I'm okay with that. This is the first class where I'm learning actual techniques that i'll use in the classroom. The professor really knows what she's talking about and I can already tell that I'll get a ton of classroom management ideas and techniques. Plus the textbooks and workbooks seem really well done. All around, really excited.
Teaching in a Diverse Society- Kind of a bullshit class. Just talking about no matter what you do or how hard you try, there will always be prejudices and you can never please anyone. Plus side, there are men in my class and it's heavily discussion based which i like.
Should make for an interesting semester
On another note...
Just taking this one day at a time.
Something's got to give and it's not going to be me.
