Like q168 said, Obama is far from Socialist. By American political standards he seems very left-leaning, but that just means slightly left of center on a conservative political spectrum, certainly not left of center on the full international political spectrum ( ... )

Most certainly, you are still my friend. We can still think the other is nuts though. :)

I agree with you, I felt that at times the Bush-bashing went too far. I certainly did my fair share when I was campaigning for Kerry, but backed away from it as best I could once he was back for a second term. I actually feel a little bad for Bush, being crushed by so much negativity.

He is a good man, and he was trying to do the best he could for this country. History will reflect this in time.

The really interesting thing that I see is this, "We won, so you have to come together" mentality. It is a 180 from anything out of the liberal camp when it came to President Bush, present company accepted, of course.

Here is what I propose to you...just be my friend...and let's both try to make the best of what we have been given, regardless of politics. The election's over with. He's going to be the President. I hold the office in high regard, no matter who is there. Let's just start there. I've been very clear I don't trust him, but that doesn't mean I won't be watching and listening to what he says. After all, conservatives will still be here to clean up the mess. :P

Fair enough. :) I would've deleted you off of my friends list a long time ago if I didn't find value in having you around, despite the fact that we disagree on most issues. I just regret that when we talk, it's almost always about politics, and more specifically, debating them. That's my fault too, since all I seem to post these days (hopefully a little less now) is about politics and I'm bad at keeping in touch with my friends... especially since I started my full-time job. All I want to do when I get home these days is unwind by watching movies/anime and playing video games--activities I didn't get to do much of when I was in school.
