Bone Marrow Biospy

So something exciting to share: I saw a BM biospy being performed yesterday and almost fainted. It was insane, it was kind of scary!

Anyway so I'm there to watch them make BM aspirate slides and its this older Vietnamese guy who apparently has really soft bones... which sort of grossed me out to start with. Poor guy was trying to be all brave but when they stabbed him with the needle to make the hole it was clear it was hurting him so much that they numbed him again. So they go to get the aspirate and they tell him its gonna hurt and I bet it hurt a lot because the patient was so shoked from the pain that his entire body lifted off the bed in reaction to the pain... so we have the blood and we're dluting it for the various preparations for slides. At this point I run for the door because all the blood has drained out of MY head and I feel like I'm going to faint. I got outside and I could no longer hear, which I can only imagine is because all the blood left my head. Apparently my lips were the same color as my face, which is freaking pale! But now that I'm ok and after being teased for not being to stand through a BM biospy... I'm going again next week. Wish me luck on not fainting this time!
