a letter pulled from somebody's website.....i thought it was awesome.
-----------------------
To all those people who roll their eyes when I mention band and say I have no life:
Band has given me more then you ever will.
Band has given me a place where I am loved no matter if I wear the latest from Abercrombie or pajama pants.
Band has given me people that I know will be there for me because they have seen me at 5 in the morning on no sleep and they still love me.
Band has given me a reason to leave the house in the morning and a real appreciation for it when I finally get home.
Band has given me the opportunity to meet new people and let me get to know some others a lot better.
Band has given me a creative outlet where I can express any feeling I want without violence or hurt feelings.
Band has shown me that when it's 95 degrees and I'm burned to a crisp and my sneakers are melting to the ground, I can still have fun.
Band has taught me that legacies are won and lost on a hundred yard semi-flat grassy areas in less then ten minutes.
Band has taught me that no matter what anybody says, there are other people who appreciate band as much as I do, and they will stand by me if you don't.
Band has given me a life, a form of life that no one but us "band fags" will ever know. So what if it seems dumb, we don't care if you don't think it's cool. But in twenty years, when we come back to the reunion, all the "band fags" will still know each other, and everyone else won't. Band, to some of us, is more then just a fine arts credit or a hobby. It's what we do and what we love to do and what we will do even if you don't want us to. Band is realizing that anyone and anything has potential, if there's only someone there to develop it. Band has taught me that those who make their own music will never, ever dance or walk or live by anyone else's beat. Band has taught me that when the world answers your questions with silence, you give it back music, and you have no more questions. Band has given and taught me more then you ever will and I'm proud of it.
