Title: Flight [drabble]
Pairing: slight!Sooseop
Rating: G
Summary: How do you protect something you can’t hope to understand?
Sometimes Soohyun thinks Kiseop isn't meant for this world, that he's here by mistake and could fly away any day he liked. He is too much beauty, too much naïveté, too much innocence to be meant for the dirty human world. Soohyun wants to protect all of it so very, very badly but he doesn’t know what to do. Being human means limitations after all.
They're up on a roof one day, after an exhausting practice. Just the two of them and the sky, dyed red and orange by the setting sun. Soohyun is slumped against the railing, back towards the ground. He watches the other boy, who is hanging over the railing, out of the corner of his eye. "Hyung," Kiseop asks, "What would it be like to fly, to have wings and be able to go everywhere like the birds do?" Soohyun sighs and shrugs. "I don't know," he replies. "I've always preferred solid ground." He tries to pretend he hasn't pictured Kiseop with wings countless times. Because I'm bored, he always tells himself but it’s just because they’d look so perfect, delicate white feathers fluttering around that perfect face. Soohyun doesn’t actually say that though. “I think white ones would look nice on you,” he murmurs instead. The ulzzang beams at him. “You should have wings too.” A pause. “I think yours would be golden brown.”
Soohyun smiles in reply, but it’s fake. He knows he won’t have wings, they aren’t meant for him. But he’s content to watch from the ground if only to be there if Kiseop ever falls.
A/N: Maybe I’ll expand this, maybe I won’t. Got something longer already mostly done but this just popped into my head. It should hold you lot over for a while right?
