I have always been curious about it, so I decided to finally try out using a proxy service (
From Japan). Luckily I found someone selling a "Cyberphase Hana" DVD for ¥800 -- sooo cheap! Please, please don't let the disc be scratched up or something...
I'd always heard that the fees piled up and was interested to finally see how it was broken down. Here's how my purchase went:
Charge 1 = item price + commission fee + system usage fee (5%)
¥800 + ¥200 + ¥50 = ¥1050
Charge 2 = domestic delivery + bank transfer fee + overseas shipping + system usage fee (5%)
¥180 + ¥168 + ¥220 + ¥28 = ¥596
So in the end, for my ¥800 (~$8.58) DVD, I paid ¥1646 (~$17.67). Oh well, at least now I know how it all works so I can finally have access to those Animate, non-CDJapan, etc items.
Gosh with the fees piling up like this though, I'll only use it if I REALLY, REALLY want it.
