For one thing; having all of that power available may make him FEEL like God right now ... but the reason they always need more souls is that those souls are an expendable resource.
I think you just hit on Death's true role in all of this. If you never die, what good are you? ;-)
My quibble is with the Supernatural!Math section, and only with part B. Not to mess with your reasoning, but for my part there's more to it. Maybe it's only in my head, but there's definitely more to it thanB) Sam did not have a soul and thought of emotions as weakness. He used pure logic and reason to justify his actions. It made him ruthless, deadly, and unable to discern between right and wrong. Something like this

Oh, I agree. It was more of a general statement reflecting what we saw of his behavior when left on his own, such as in the missing year, and not really so much where Dean was concerned.
After all - all THREE of them, Lucifer, Cas, and Sam, act differently where Dean is concerned. ;)
Oh, hey, thanks for the parallels. I caught some of them ("Hey! That's John's locker!" "Why am I having Ava flashbacks?") but some of them I didn't pick up on beyond "Oh, is that Bobby's house re-dressed?"
The way you describe psychopathy? That's how I've always heard sociopathy described, and is very much how I saw Jared portraying soulless!Sam. No empathy, no conscience.
When I have more time, I might write more. I think one of my major disappointments in the season was that after five years of Sam being the center of the mytharc, I was kind of hoping they'd give Dean the mytharc this go-around. I love that Dean has such a strong emotional arc. I just kinda . . . Oh, I dunno . . .
See, I think that overall for the season, CAS ended up being the center of the mytharc. Everyone else was just a pawn of some kind. IDK if center of the mytharc is the right term, though. Maybe eye of the hurricane would be better.

Well, either way, whether it was Cas or Sam, it wasn't Dean. Ya know?
Though you're right; I'm not sure I'd apply "mytharc" to what's going on with Cas. Though he does seem to be the one with the potential redemption storyline coming up. Maybe.
A Mytharc for DeanfeliciakwJune 21 2011, 14:26:46 UTC
Okey dokey. I'm alone in a quiet office right now, so I've got more than a hot minute to get this on paper. Or on your screen. Or whatever.
So. I mentioned above that I was kind of hoping for a Dean-centric mytharc this year (because the one time they did have a Dean-centric arc, it was cut short by the writer's strike). And you know? I'm sure you do. They spent the entire season setting up a mytharc for Dean--and then just let it go

HOWEVER, the way I see it, Dean IS the center of the emotional arc. We see how everything affects him on an emotional level. We get, I think, more detail of his emotional background and make-up. (Or, that could just be the Dean!girl in me.)
Uh, no. Definitely not just the Dean girl talking. I've been wanting something similar for Sam for years. *sigh*

(And your letter to the writers--I think that's why we all write stories, because the boys tell us what they want to happen.)
