Title: Hit the Switch
Author: tafidadarling
Fandom: Criminal Minds which belongs to CBS.
Pairing(s): Ethan/Reid
Rating: FRM for alcohol and drug abuse.
Spoilers: Jones. Technically it's set before that episode. Mostly it's only a spoiler if you haven't seen it since it's where Ethan is introduced.
Summary: Reid feels the need to reconnect.
Notes: This started as one of my responses doing more of the music meme (Hit the Switch by Bright Eyes) and I loved what I got. I couldn't help but go back, edit a bit and end up with this drabble. So I suppose it's now my first ever song fic.

Reid really needed to get out of the city. One addiction led to another and he found himself staring at the bottom of the bottle he had opened only an hour ago. The alcohol and Dilauded mingled in his blood causing him to be light headed. He couldn't talk to anyone in Quantico because he would lose his job. He couldn't face that. It was the ony thing left in life that made sense. That and how easy it was to slide the needle in his arm.
He found himself taking time off and going to visit his friend Ethan. Friend possibly wasn't the best term. It should have been a mistake. Reid hadn't seen him since FBI Academy. You know, before he left Reid without as much as a goodbye note. Reid had learned early on in life that people will come and go, but this knowledge doesn't stop it from hurting. So yes, it should have been a mistake.
But it wasn't. Ethan never asked why the call out of nowhere. He lovingly held Reid's hair back as he emptied his stomach's contents as he leaned over the toilet bowl. Reid knew shooting up and downing a fifth before the flight was not a smart idea. He wasn't thinking as logically as he would have under different circumstances. Then Ethan led him to the bedroom where he slowly undressed them and lay besides a trembling Reid. He planted butterfly kisses on the track marks as they began drifting off to sleep.
"I don't want to do this anymore," Reid muttered into the pillow.
"I hope you mean the self destructing."
"As opposed to what? Always crawling back to you?"
"No, living."
