I'm never breaking my year-end meme trend, so suck it Tumblr.

Sorry Tumblr ate my life. Have a meme:

1. What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?
Pushed for a promotion at work (which I didn't get, but it wasn't personal and I have every reason to expect it might happen in 2016). Worked in an American public school. Most importantly, actually completed the reading categories challenge I've participated in every year since 2009!

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Ugggggggh, no, and yes I will, I always do, it is the folly of mankind.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, one of my closest college friends!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. Thank god.

5. What countries did you visit?
I think I visited zero countries...I was really busy this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
Last year I was all "I got this exercise regimen in hand, so let's say a full time position with benefits" and right now I have NEITHER, so let's go with those.

7. What date from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
DECEMBER 18th IS STAR WARS DAY.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
My practicum. I kicked my ass working on that, and ended up producing 66,000 words about it, which is by far the biggest piece of writing I've ever created (even if it was broken down into littler chunks). And now I get to do it all again in a couple weeks! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy...

9. What was your biggest failure?
I failed to get Comic Con tickets, is what I failed at.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I've done something to my wrist I think, but I don't have insurance until January 1st so I was blessed with good health in 2015.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I now own some pretty sweet red boots.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I love everyone, but none of them did anything CRAZY impressive. My general state in re: my family is celebratory, however.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
I spent a lot of the year complaining about my dad. Sorry, Dad.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Always food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Finishing my first practicum! Also, Star Wars, Steven Universe, and Mad Max.

16. What song will always remind you of 2015?
The Hamilton soundtrack, probably.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder?
About the same. The Fall was rough though.

ii. thinner or fatter?
Ugggggggggggggh.

iii. richer or poorer?
I saved well and worked my ass off at three jobs and got an unexpected windfall, so fairly richer.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Biking! Again! Also, spending time with friends.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Moping and drinking. Like I said, rough fall.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I was with my family in California, like always.

21. How will you be spending New Year’s Eve?
I chilled and watched When Harry Met Sally and the truly weird, super-OT3-y The Talk of the Town with my family. We drank pink champagne and watched fireworks in the snow.

22. Did you fall in love in 2015?
I don't think I even had a crush in 2015, unless you count Poe Dameron.

23. How many one-night stands?
That is a truly comical question.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
STEVEN UNIVERSE! What a weird show.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.

26. What was the best book you read?
It took me awhile to warm up to it, but I really loved A Game of Kings by Dorothy Dunnett. My favorite new book was Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hm...aside from Hamilton and some other really good theatre experiences, probably The Worriers.

28. What did you want and get?
A summer job (even if I regretted it a bit). A Hubway pass.

29.What did you want and not get?
A promotion.

30. What was your favourite film that you saw for the first time this year?
Star Wars, Mad Max, and The Martian were my geek favorites! My favorite more prestige-y film was Room.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I grabbed Mexican food with a friend, went out to dinner and the theatre with my mother, some friends, and my grandparents, and then had a family dinner at home. I turned 27.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having health insurance slash more steady income? Less family drama.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?
Jeans...

34. What kept you sane?
It was kind of a close thing. I actually used the DBT handbook a couple times.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Recently, Oscar Isaac.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Police brutality. I tried not to get too stirred up about primaries yet.

37. Who did you miss?
I'm pretty much an empty nester right now, so I've been missing everyone.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I guess my new boss and the new 6th grade English teacher, in terms of my professional cadre.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015.
I'm trying to learn the valuable life lesson of "not my circus, not my monkeys."

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
How do you write like tomorrow won’t arrive?
How do you write like you need it to survive?
How do you write ev’ry second you’re alive?
Ev’ry second you’re alive? Ev’ry second you’re alive?

misc: we can has meemz?
