Sailing ships and sealing wax

I logged out early last night and went to bed at a most reasonable hour: 10:00p. Course, I did have an ulterior motive: finishing tapratt's Blood Engines. I enjoyed it greatly, and can't wait to pick up the next in the series (due out today, matterfac.) For those of you who've also read the Dresden books, this one has a similar flavor, but is in no way a knock off. If you'd like a taste of that world and those characters, take a gander at the freebie short story that got me to buy the book: Pale Dog.

I am exceedingly pleased to have found a few new authors to love recently. In addition to tapratt, thanks to the Tor promo I was able to read John Scalzi's Old Man's War for free, and even though I'm not a fan of military fic, I loved that book and promptly went out and purchased the sequel. I'll be picking up the others in that 'verse as soon as I can.

GRR of the day: when I passed my usual gas station on the way home last night, gas was $3.08. This morning on my way out it was $3.15. That's a SEVEN cent difference in twelve hours.

Yay of the day: Patch day!! WOoooooOOOoooo! (And here I am still at work bein' all grown up 'n stuff.)

Squeeful hardware: I'd love one of these video cards for my computer, but at that price? No time soon. Still... *makes googly eyes at it*

Hey sithvixen, look what I came across today. Is this the same pic you linked... oh quite awhile ago now, I think? It looked familiar. I was (still) suitably amused. :-)

And with that, I'm off to sit in traffic, and then start racking up Shattered Sun rep with the dailies. :-D

pictures, gaming, griping, wow
