Nonplussed fox - Some Kind of Love Song, Takashi and Arianhrod

The fourth time he was lurking in the back ranks, grinning behind a human skin, she didn't tense up when she spotted him. Didn't scowl, unless it was so briefly even he didn't see it.

Instead she smiled, and while it was aimed at the petty lord at the front of the ranks, he was pretty sure it wasn't really meant for the man.

Since it was the Bard trailing her heels, he didn't try getting closer. Just started a slow fade to the rear, moving slowly enough not to attract attention, but he couldn't help shooting one more look over his shoulder before he disappeared into the trees.

To find her watching him, sharp amusement visible in her green eyes even at that distance, and a quirk in the corner of her mouth that reminded him of her brothers.

"The blazes were a nice touch," her voice said in his ear, and he barely kept himself from jumping, changing skins and tearing through the air, away. But she was still standing next to her brother, the quirk in her mouth deepening ( ... )

"The blazes were a nice touch," her voice said in his ear, and he barely kept himself from jumping, changing skins and tearing through the air, away. But she was still standing next to her brother, the quirk in her mouth deepening for a second, before she looked away, dipped her head in acknowledgement to the petty lord.

He . . didn't know what to do with that.

What blazes?

I'm not sure if they were classic blazes as such (which are stripped-back bark on trees to mark a trail) or the magical tag equivalent, but he arranged for her people to have a Very Easy Time finding the people he's currently with, slightly more elegantly than he needed to.

I think I need to ask Geoffrey wtf he was doing--he doesn't seem to remember. One can only assume it seemed like a good idea at the time (or at least the best of a list of bad-to-very-bad options).

""Quelqu'un--?"

What language is Hernen using, here?

"You got very lucky," Ulysse amended, carefully peeling his hands off Hernén's head. "But that wolf of yours looked like she was planning to take a chunk out of you if you woke up. Maybe even if you didn't--"

Those wolves need a support group. Wolves Attached To Crazy Magebloods.

French, surprisingly enough. :)

And yes, yes they do. Possibly founded by several Hands who had to deal with crazy mages as well as crazy magebloods.

A hundred broken barrels of twenty year whiskey and that's the good news - Trickwood Unification

"Oh, Winter," was all he could manage when he got his first look at the carnage. One of the crowd jerked her head up--marking her for a wolf, because if she was air-aligned there were better places for her to be--looking around for him, then, as they made eye contact, she nodded, padded over.

"How bad is it?" he asked as she came to rest next to him, and she made a face.

"There's a hundred broken barrels of twenty-year whiskey," she said, and as he winced, added "and that's the good news."

As people started running, he said "I'm guessing the fire's the bad news."

"The drake did start the fire," the wolf replied, wincing as something exploded. Probably one of the barrels, poor thing. "But I think that it's between the river and the fire, and we lost most of the big guns in the mess is the bad news."

You don't identify the "he" in this. Was that intentional or a mistake?

That's...some really, really bad news.

That was intentional--I have no idea who either he or the wolf is. =\

And yes, yes it is. (I was strongly considering responding to spark with a very simple 'AUGH'. >.>)
