I am looking at Jane Austen-inspired drawings in the Russian Austen LJ community herel; and for some reason the thing that bothers me about them is the colour. I do not know much about art and do not feel qualified to judge the techniques, but: what can it be that bothers me? The Austen illustrations I've seen look different, but that's not reason

I'd be very interested if you find you can articulate further what dissatisfied you. I clicked on your link and liked the paintings very much! They were much more accomplished-seeming than a lot of fan art! So, indeed, could it be color that's bothering you? I don't know much about the period and what would be accurate coloring for dresses and things; I found them pretty, but perhaps they're off? I don't know.

Anyway, if you do think of what it is that seems not quite right, do share your thoughts.
