My kids lost out... way to go, school
I am so incredibly pissed at the Holland Public School system. They never showed the President's speech during class today, which is complete bullshit!
During a local news broadcast on Saturday, they showed a list of area school districts and their decisions about the broadcast. While some districts did opt to not show the speech to their schools, Holland Public was clearly listed as 'OPTIONAL'! Meaning, obviously, that parents who did not wish for their children to see Obama's speech could either keep them home or take them out of class beforehand. Therefore, I was with the understanding that my kids would have the opportunity to watch the speech at school.
Apparently, this was not the case. And I was never notified. Oh yes, I did check the school district's website for any indication that their decision had changed. Not one hint. Not a mention. Nothing. Gee, thanks.
You listened to your wanking, conservative parents and satisfied their wants, but screw the rest of us who thought it would be a good experience for our kids to see the President's speech. Nice to know that your priority is keeping your heads stuck up the asses of the politically inclined, instead of stressing the importance of academics and hard work... WHICH IS YOUR FUCKING JOB! It's what you get PAID TO DO! Yes, parents are just as responsible for teaching their children these things. But the matter of the fact is, you work for the school system, not for congress!
Because, yeah... I would have liked to have been able to pick up my kids early, bring them home to see the speech as it happens, and talk with them about it. But, I guess we're not entitled to have that 'OPTION'.
