Um... YAY!!!!! :D

First of all, Rich can has job now! We received a call this evening from the Valvoline Oil Center near my Goodwill store. They want him to go in for orientation tomorrow. So, finally... He's a working boy again. He'll be a greasy working boy, but that's alright. I've no problems with having my man come home covered in automotive fluids. ;)

Kinda jealous, actually... *snrk*

At this point, we don't know what range of hours he'll be getting - hopefully full-time - or what his pay rate will be. Probably not a 'bringing in the big bucks' deal, I'm sure. But, anything is better than nothing. And with his unemployment draining fast, he needs to jump on whatever he can get. Considering this is Michigan, especially, and job availability sucks.

Secondly - and honestly, something that makes me squee more than knowing Rich is working again - Mute Math is heading into the studio to begin recording their next album!!! *does the Edge's Popmart dance* *fangirl flailing and bouncing*

I've been waiting for awhile to hear this news. I'm excited to think of it, what the new album will consist of, what new sounds and styles the lads will produce. It's an interesting sort of anticipation, in that this is the first band I'll have had the chance to follow through this whole 'second release' process. Second albums can be what makes or breaks an up-and-coming band, depending upon how it's received by the industry. All I can do is hope for them, do my part by buying the album when it comes out, and... *crosses fingers* catch them when they're out on the road again.

Oh, the things this makes me ponder...! If Mute Math pulls this album together before the end of this fall, oh dear... And U2 releasing their new album this fall... Wow, the chances are so remote, but it would be the awesomest thing ever if U2 brought Mute Math on the road with them as their openning act. *squee!THUD*

Not to mention, the mental images there are utterly amusing.

MM lead singer, Paul Meany: Hi, I'm Paul.
U2 lead singer, Bono: Hi, I'm Paul, also. But my friends call me Bono.
MM lead singer, Paul Meany: Nice to meet you, Paul-also-Bono.
U2 lead singer, Bono: ....meany.

Yeah, I think the two of them have the potential to get along famously. :p And I can see Edge being totally mesmerized with Paul's Atari. *bwah* XD

This is an issue that has come and gone, I know, regarding Mute Math and their version of the TF theme song. But, I recently stumbled across an article on IGN, that was an interview with the band about their involvement. I think this makes everything clear. And while I was wholly satisfied before with what they had produced, what is mentioned here brings to me, personally, justification for my satisfaction.

Here's an excerpt of the article:

All of this Transformers reminiscence ties into the fact that the band has a new electro schism version of the vintage theme song on the soundtrack album to Bay's movie. "Warner Bros. got the rights to release the soundtrack and for whatever reason they were trying to find someone to remake the theme song that wasn't [coming with just a rehash of the '80s Euro Metal sound of the original]. It seems that everyone was kind of turning in these really hard, stylistically metalcore type of remakes. I think Warner Bros. was hoping for something a little different and of course we're not that [a metal band] so they asked us to do our take on it."

MuteMath's take on it is actually quite refreshing. Granted hardcore Transformers heads have balked at the band's decidedly electro neo-Gary Numan take on the theme, but if you think about it wouldn't the music of giant robots be more apt to sound like buzzing, humming, bleepage than railing and skirling guitars? "It's funny as it seems like it's been sort of a sore spot for a lot of diehard Transformer fans who think that [the metal laced pop of the original '80s theme song] embodies the characters of the Transformers," he says matter-of-factly. "All of sudden ours comes out and it's not that and it seemed to unruffle a few features. All we did was we saw a clip of the movie and I think with what we saw we just kind of went into the studio and just began to create what we were feeling."

Oddly enough even though MuteMath's track made the cut for inclusion on the album, you won't find it anywhere in the film. "A lot of people have been misled into thinking that we actually did the theme song that's going to be in the movie, but that's not the case for us," explains Meany with a bit of disappointment in his voice. "You will not hear what we have done in the film. It will only be on the soundtrack."

While that's a bit of a bummer, Meany is still stoked that he and the rest of the band got to tackle the track in the first place. "We had a good time making it, though," says Meany. "When we found out that we had the opportunity to remake the theme song, we got a little jittery. It was like a childhood dream [come true]."

Yes. ^_^
