Oh-hoh-hoh, my picture dumping speed increased again. More than one in half a year.
This time I've got at least one nice picture in there, but since I've spammed that everywhere last week... chances are, you've seen it.
And the others, too. This is really a duplicate of my last dA uploads, with only very few scribbles/sketches. I apologize for that and shall scribble more.
In the last dump, I linked to a free lineart base of my Lokotunjailurus drawing.
I made adoptables from it to promote the species, but while the adoptables were a huge success, nobody cared to learn that tongue-twister of a name, look up the cat or draw it the way it's meant to be. xD Doesn't matter, had fun.
Speaking of dA, someone made a poll and complained about people who draw everything like a dog. Actually, cats drawn like dogs have become a minor pet peeve of mine. I did a scribble to visualize the problem to myself again, and there you have it, the dog-tiger. But don't mix them up with tiger-dogs, those are Arcanines, and Arcanines are awesome. ;-) We're talking pure ignorance in this case.
This scribble is supposed to be a little crutch for drawing my saber cat pouty-faced. I tend to just stick the tooth where it belongs but don't close the lip line. It sort of works, and kind of looks like this:
And this picture... it was inspired by a point in my head canon where inevitably one of the sabers goes into heat, and it drives Jarmara up the walls. Homotherii and lions are evolutionary far apart, but they are cats. So I imagine what one species finds hot is annoying like a song sung terribly off key to the other species. But on the other hand you can get vastly different cat species to interbreed if you keep them isolated with the 'wrong' partner. And isolated conditions apply during the travels of my characters. So this is kind of the turning point where the balance between annoyance and attraction finally tips for Jarmara. That doesn't mean he stops being annoyed and yes, sort of ashamed, too. Kali on the other hand, the larger, older female in the pride, is far more relaxed about their situation, even though the lion is far too scrawny for her taste. But it eventually works out for them. Works out very well, even. Cubs do not happen, and thank goodness for that. Ligers are monstrous enough, now think of giant sabertooth / cave lion hybrids. But they're genetically too different already. Even in modern cats, inter-species crossings tend not to produce offspring most of the time, either because the pregnancy terminates prematurely or the embryo doesn't even live past early stages. This is also why I'm very critical of hybrid breeds being sold as pets. In the worst cases, it borders on animal abuse and is dangerous to the mother.
I drew a birthday sketch for Dey, but it was complicated. I hate to have to nag people for feedback on gift art, I feel bad and make them feel bad, all about what should have been fun. ^^; But on the other hand, it's the only way to know if they saw it at all.
Also, this.
Because this.
And to wrap it up, at Frazzle's place, we did some sketches. It was the day after another Ahadi round, and I'm temporarily a player.
My character, the lion, has a difficult, moody personality but after a while the other characters found out that he was very reliable and wouldn't put his anger in the way of a misson. Slowly, I think, he started to bond with those other two characters especially: Roxie the Corax and Hira the Kitsune. Soooo I put them in a sketch.
He can discuss politics with Hira, and they put up a good ambush scene together in the dark once. Roxie on the other hand was picked on by him because of her being a white and a westerner, but he appreciates her skill above everyone else's in the group and tries his best to work with her, and I think Roxie noticed. I'm gonna miss him as soon as I take over the group again. But at our speed... that can take a while. ;)
Okay, that's it, see you, and thanks for looking!
