Instead of doing Duet as I planned, I worked on the latest fc letter. I only got Jun's and the Ohno/Ninomiya sections done. Sho's is waaay too long, and Aiba's is a little on the long side. So for now, these.
I do want to get all these other translations done that I've mentioned including Duet and the motorbike one, but I have 3 tests next week(and one tomorrow morning actually), a portfolio for my own translation class, a 2000 character paper(that would be about 5 pages) dealing with a presentation I did, as well as a 3-4 page paper in English on a contemporary issue in Japanese society. Can't wait for this work to be over. Then I'll have plenty of time for fan translation! <3 [/personal whatever]
Onto the translations!
Matsumoto Jun: The Hidden Fortress
Q1: When you heard the story at the beginning, in what ways did you think about it?
“I thought about it with various senses. It’s my first time to do a historical play, and Director Kurosawa’s original work is incredibly interesting… And so it’s not a remake, and it means that we were making a new work for the present time on the axis of the original.”
Q2: Director Higuchi had commented that he felt wildness in a pair of rebellious eyes, but is there anything you are conscious of apart from the saying of “wildness”?
“No. I don’t think there are any parts I’m aware of. I haven’t been that rebellious, lately (laugh).”
Q3: Besides the equestrian arts, what training did you do for your role?
“It’s not even that. I didn’t think it was training originally. I’m only doing what’s important. Horseback riding has come to be a kind of a hobby.”
Q4: Outside of being “barefoot at the river”, what kinds of severe filming have you been doing?
“Well, it’s cold, because it’s winter. Because it’s not the likeness of the present. The fabric’s thin. My chest is opened. (laugh)”
Q5: As for the fun things with that, what kinds of times do you feel relief?
“Well, outside of that, it’s truly fun. The way everyone on staff works is an amazing thing and the scenes are fresh and brimming with a lot of stimulation. Since we can’t take so many cuts in a day because it’s a film, I feel it to be a luxurious time.”
Q6: What kind of Matsumoto Jun will be seen in this work, do you think?
“Who knows? (laugh) That’s shown in the finished product, and I’m not one to judge. I just merely do it.”
Ohno Satoshi×Ninomiya Kazunari
HARETE ARASHI [[ Harete Arashi = "Sunny and Storm", or "Renewed Arashi" There's various meanings and interpretations to it. ]]
― I’d like you to talk about your memories of the two of you during 2007.
Ohno: We celebrated my birthday, didn’t we?
Ninomiya: That’s right. Though it was about two days afterwards. Our mutual friends included. Chatting normally.
Ohno: Eating, singing. Saying my acquaintances would do it for me.
Ninomiya: I was also invited from those people. Because we were together after work finished, I went with Leader. …You don’t remember, I wonder?
Ohno: I fell asleep (laugh). Though we were celebrating my birthday.
Ninomiya: Though well, something birthday-ish was just a moment’s toasting. We only toasted there saying “Happy Birthday!”
Ohno: After that, we had the usual dinner gathering, didn’t we?
―Just for comparison, Did you do anything for Nino’s birthday?
Ohno: …(thinking) Oh? What did we do?
Ninomiya: We didn’t do anything, you know.
Ohno: Didn’t do anything, huh? I sent you an email. We had work together, I wonder? I don’t really remember.
Ninomiya: We weren’t together for my birthday this year.
Ohno: Come to think of it, we haven’t exchanged presents as of late, have we?
Ninomiya: That’s right.
―Okay then, what kinds of times in 2007 did you look at your partner and think how cool he is?
Ohno: Nino’s altogether cool.
Ninomiya: Leader’s also altogether cool.
Ohno: Even when we’re eating, I really don’t know, but he’s cool.
Ninomiya: From the time he comes onto the scene, I think he’s cool. As expected, I think I just respect him.
Ohno: Yeah. I was thinking I feel respected. That’s what I had felt (laugh).
Ninomiya: I adore Ohno-san. Any time, anywhere.
Ohno: Nino’s profile is really nice when he’s playing games and other such things.
―So then, what about points of cuteness?
Ninomiya: Every bit’s cute.
Ohno: Every bit’s cute. I think he’s cute every day. Hahaha.
―Besides birthdays, any times you’ve played together?
Ohno: Ah, we acted together, didn’t we? For work.
Ninomiya: That we did.
―Appearing as a guest on “Yamada Taro Monogatari” right?
Ohno: Nino sure has grown as expected.
Ninomiya: Is that true? Well, I hesitate to say it, but I think that’s just like Ohno-san. Only when he came onto the scene did all of the extras, all of them say “Good morning!” When he introduced himself, they applauded. This wasn’t a great big excitement, was it? When I saw that, even all of those we were meeting for the first time; I really felt that they love Ohno-san. Because there wasn’t that great of applause when my turn came.
Ohno: That so?
Ninomiya: So it seems to me that the television world is asking for Ohno-san.
Ohno: I see. ….Okay.
Ninomiya: Bwahahahaha!
―How many people were there around you?
Ohno: Don’t know. I wasn’t facing ahead. It was embarrassing.
Ninomiya: But, Ohno-san, you came out well for me.
Ohno: It was tough to remember my lines.
Ninomiya: Oh? Didn’t you change them on your own?
Ohno: Well, I couldn’t remember them and so I changed them (laugh).
Ninomiya: Didn’t you just go to the director and ask him if it was okay to have it without saying a thing? He declined it saying he didn’t like it. Is doing the things you want to do until the very end the strength of that foundation? There was nothing for me. I thought it was amazing. (Note: It’s a joke)
Ohno: Ah well.
Ninomiya: I guess we thought about that in retrospect?
Ohno: The result, right?
Ninomiya: It came out on screen.
Ohno: It did?
Ninomiya: Yes. Sho-kun was saying so.
Ohno: I didn’t see it.
Ninomiya: I saw it. Though it was only when Ohno-san had appeared. It was a really nice act.
Ohno: Thanks.
―By the way, lately, sometimes, you can see facial hair on the two of you, but it’s unsual, isn’t it?
Ohno: No, I think it’s unusual that the other three’s have grown more.
Ninomiya: That’s right, from our perspective.
―Ohno-san has had some on his chin from before every so often, but lately Ninomiya has some, too.
Ninomiya: That, I guess, for me who adores Ohno-san, I think it’s a road I must take once.
Ohno: Though I think it’s rough.
Ninomiya: Because I’m thinking Ohno-san’s necessary for Arashi.
Ohno: Well, this guy, though because he’s a little bit of a kid, he’s pale. He expresses his feelings. When I shave, I shave. When I was thinking I began to grow it out, he sensed it right away. Meaning he sure understood it.
Ninomiya: I’m desperate not to really be late. By every means.
Ohno: So there are times we don’t see each other for 3 or 4 days, and I think it’s at those kinds of times where it’s the most nerve-wracking.
Ninomiya: The times we see each other are over without thinking about them, right?
Ohno: Meeting suddenly, when mine was growing faintly.
Ninomiya: Because you’re pressed for time. Thinking about it, the days we don’t see each other are more frequent. You ask how will Ohno-san come out next. Actually, I want to imitate his hairstyle. When you go that far to imitate, you won’t know who’s who when it’s concert time (laugh).
Ohno: Can’t be helped there (laugh).
Ninomiya: So I won’t even grow in height this way.
―Who’s taller? If you had to say which.
Ohno: Nino’s taller.
Ninomiya: No, no, Ohno-san’s totally taller, appearance-wise. Oh? The arrangement of the bridge of “Yes? No?” has us in line by height, doesn’t it?
Ohno: Yeah. Suspending “Yes No~”, right?
Ninomiya: What a wonderful singing voice!
Ohno: Though only lightly (bashfully).
Ninomiya: I guess it’s amazing to be able to sing lightly to that extent.
―Speaking of concerts, it depends on thinking how extremely lonely it is to not be seeing Ohmiya SK as of late.
Ninomiya: Finally, the other day, we were saying we’ve disbanded.
Ohno: We were saying something, weren’t we?
Ninomiya: We were saying that we wanted to be told thank you by the people who are supporting us in Japan, right?
―Is that true!?
Ohno: If they didn’t ask us, we wouldn’t know, right?
Ninomiya: We’re only saying it because they said so.
Ohno: But those two were drunk at that time, weren’t they?
Ninomiya: Though well, they weren’t really irresponsible. …I guess I should give myself the same hairstyle as Leader’s, I wonder.
Ohno: Well, go for it (laugh).
For any Oguri Shun fans. I have a little translation from today's edition of the Yomiuri Newspaper, since they were highlighting his new drama "Binbou Men"(which I recommend, by the way). Next time they publish an interview and Q&A it'll be for Ikuta Toma! Hopefully I'll get my hands on that. :3 Anyway, I didn't translate the "interview" itself right now (though it is interesting so I'll get to that at a later date), just the little Q&A portion.
The questions were asked by various people.
Q When do you have the most fun?
A The most fun time in my daily life is when I’m at home by myself playing role-playing games. Coming home and after reading my script, I chop a little bit of my sleeping time out by doing that.
Q Presently, do you have a place you’d like to travel to?
A Riding on a large motorcycle with a sleeping bag in the back, I want to circle the country by myself from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Go straight-through on the national highway while drinking with the locals.
Q What’s a present you’d like to receive from a girl?
A I’d be happy with anything I receive from a girl.
Q Any roles you’d like to try after this?
A Nothing in particular. I’ll do any kind of role I get.

And yes, Ohno and Nino did seem to talk all over the place. @@; Sorry if it seems more like a rough translation this time. ^^;
