Yep, it's been a while. Yes, I know.

So... it's been... er... no comment. Moving on.

The periodic fasting is still a thing. I'm under 250 pounds now and am happy about it. Just wish my feet didn't bother me so much due to all the other issues they've got. Blarg.

Okay, funny thing. Magic: The Gathering! I think I stopped playing in all seriousness in either 1998 or 1999. I do remember gathering up all the cards I had and gifting them to Music-chan and her husband as a wedding gift (had kind of assumed they would eventually sell them all, so financial gain for them). After that, brushed my hands off and moved on with life.

Or so I had thought.

While emptying out some old boxes from my last move several years ago (I don't want to hear it) I ran across my one and only attempt at actually collecting M:TG cards, the 1997 Portal set. This particular set was designed for new players with much simplified rules and without 90% of the increasingly complex abilities they were starting to introduce into the game. I liked it. So out of curiosity I spent this morning cataloging / sorting / inspecting the cards and two things immediately jumped out at me. First, the vast majority of the cards were in darn good condition, and second, I'm three cards short of having at least one of the entire set. Three! It's kind of a whim, but I think I'm going to complete the set, plus pick up a bunch of extras (mostly lands) so that it isn't just a complete set, but a playable complete set.

Also, am looking at running a Shadowrun game again. I started buying the 5th Edition rule books several months ago, but have finally admitted to myself that I am struggling with the new rules. Frankly too many. I should not have to engage in pre-calculus just to figure out how long a character can tread water. It's bloody silly. So, no more buying books... unless someone else is going to run a game at least. Instead, I've grabbed a fan-created conversion for running a Shadowrun game using the Savage Worlds game system. Having played a Savage Rifts game last year I have fallen in love with the system and its flexability, and want to give this a try. And I'll be honest, I miss the Shadowrun universe. It's so much fun. I suspect watching Bright on Netflix didn't help either. *grin*
