Title: The Struggle
Series: Original
She stares at the grave, the dirt still fresh in a perfect tomb on the earth. They had talked of this moment. In late night conversations words said softly, because the thought of something so tragic just couldn't be faced head on. She knew it won't be long, as did he and they tried to prepare for this. Made sure she and the kids would have enough money to make it without him. That the kids would understand why daddy wasn't there anymore, the house now silent missing his standard cough that flooded the walls for months. Still all preparations weren't enough, she still cried and broke down when the words came that he was gone. And at the funeral, trying in vein to be brave again for the sake of the kids, his parents and everyone else dressed in pressed suits and black dresses. Now still staring, thinking of it all. Their history, good and bad. The struggles. Of everything. She finds herself hoping and wishing for something apart of those distant conversations, something she fears will never be. To be happy. But without him there can be no happiness.
