IRC is probably the safest way to chat. You can set up a private room where people have to get permission to join. It's pretty secure and there's no easy way to track a user's IP, so it's not very traceable. Anything that goes over the AIM network, according to their new terms of service, can be reprinted or used for any purpose they choose. Hope this helps. :)
