LOTRO and coincidence

Note to Di: you have to read this one!!! Because SPOOOOKY!

So, I've had little to no connection this weekend, which makes me insane since I basically live on the internet.

I DID start playing LOTRO though when I had connection, and I have to admit I'm completely hooked. It has everything I want in a MMO - beautiful fantasy world, available elf race (yes, I love elves and you know it!!) player economy, devs (and most players) who know and CARE about the world's lore, a serious crafting system (I love crafting so much!!) little/completely voluntary and avoidable PVP, ways to earn "badges" and titles like CoH, a built-in RP flag and pace to type in your description, and a thriving RP community - not to mention they recently added PLAYER HOUSING (SQUEE) and the next patch introduces the ability to assign the stats from your new-awesome-but-hideous armor to the armor skin of your choice (in other words, you can keep the good-looking "grey" outfit you started with and merge it with your epics and wear it in battle, WOO!)

In other words, I am completely pleased.

James and I decided to bring our six elves over. Not whole cloth of course, they're NOT transplanted Night Elves who suddenly found themselves in Middle-earth, but they're easily recreated and played as MERP elves. Nen was the easiest of course - and I didn't even have to change her name much, since it was already stolen from LOTR canon. >.> In fact, I only had to change it because they already added the lake she's named for into the game!

Note: for all screenshots, please don't think the world is SUPPOSED to look quite like this. I have the graphics cranked all the way down because my connection bites. You can go to LOTRO's website and see MUCH better shots. I just have a complete inability NOT to chronicle my adventures in screenshots. Ha!

Look at this though! How close this is!

Here's the avatar I made for Nen for Haven. In it she's wearing the tier .5 Warrior gear I could never have gotten for her, but blue and gold were totally her colors.

Here's LOTRO-Nenuviyel.

Uncanny, isn't it!!

Silana (aka Zylona, but there's no Z-sound in Sindarin) got an awesome hat. Normally I hide hats, but this thing I just freaking love! It made me think of Ko, I know she'd have loved one.

While questing in a mine, we found something really awesome. I think it's freaking GREAT the devs put stuff like this in just so people who know the source material can go "Oh! Hey!"

There's a chink in the ceiling of the cave through which this little stream of sunlight comes, and a stoned Troll right in front of it. AWESOME!

Silana on the pier just before I logged off. You can see how damn PRETTY the world is even with my graphics turned down. I'm not even in a pretty part of the world yet! This town reminds me of the naga area at the bottom of Azshara, which was always my favorite zone.

OK, so here's the creepy coicidence part for Di. After James went to bed I still wanted to play around some, so I decided to make myself a "traditional" Hobbit Burgler. Also, I think the Hobbit toons are KYOOOT as hell, and I'd like to play through their beginning area. Just as I was thinking it was a shame Di/Lorith would never really probably enjoy this game since you can't make a "female" Dwarf (you just make a "Dwarf," people who aren't Dwarves can't differentiate the sexes because of the beards... and that's canon and the devs wouldn't budge on it) the default Hobbit female selection, in Guardian armor, popped up.

I was like "HOLY SHIT! It's Paly-Lorith!!!"

Then I clicked the "Burgler" option, changing the toon to the default Burgler one.

And went "Jesus! It's Rasma!!"

I thought that had enough omg-factor to screenshot and share! Di, your characters apparently posed for some Hobbit models ;)

Here's my girl, Checkerberry. I LOVE her, I think she's the BEE'S KNEES!

How KYOOT is she?! There's a FRECKLES option!!

Surveying Archet. Look at those feet! There's the regular "hide helmet" "hide cloak" options... but there's also a "hide boots" option, in case your Hobbit just HAS to go traditionally bare-toed without losing out on stats! <3 to the devs!

Rawr! Checkerberry fights bad bandits! Not only is she adorable, but she's kinda bad-ass!

Anyway, that's where I've been! There will be more! I'm in love! yay!
