Snowflake Day Four and Five
Ha ha! Two in one. I need to catch up, for sure. Or hell, maybe it's already over if you started on the 1st, I dunno. We got *so* lucky yesterday - nearly seventy and sunny. Today was all forties and rain, rain, rain. My yard is a sponge with grass on.
So! I'm skipping day four, because it says: "Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've interacted with and friend/follow them.
I comment on new people's posts all the time, really, and that's never been an issue with me, so I'm fine missing that one. Five says: "In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create."
Which is always a good thing, because there's nothing I like more than recs from a source I trust. (I hope I'm that to some of you.)
American Stranger/Indelible, by nwhepcat. An Oz piece from the Buffy 'verse, written way back in 2005. Both of these stories are just.... (Spoiler ahead!!!) When the monks made Dawn, everybody 'knew' Buffy had a sister. Except Oz. And his unease at the history he doesn't remember, the person he doesn't know.... It's just excellent. I've loved this fic forever, I loved Oz for saying 'no'. Just a really excellent alternative 'verse.
Lucky Pennies by IamShadow21. A Marvel 'verse fic, wherein Clint...just isn't only what he seems. It's basically gen, with a very strong Clint/Phil vibe (my preferred pairing if it's not gonna be Clint/Nat). I love it because...it's Clint and Phil becoming friends. Learning to trust each other. It's Clint letting Phil see his vulnerabilities, and Phil...keeping his secrets. It's lovely and fun and a very good read. :)
Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail by owlet. One of *the* best Marvel 'verse, Bucky/Steve fics going. Funny, bittersweet, heartbreaking, *different*. The Olds, the sheep sleep pants, CONFIRM. There are a number of parts, there are various 'inspired by' stories, there are OC's brought to amazing and detailed life.... It's the kind of fic that makes you just want more.
And finally - one of the ultimate pieces of fic out there. One I've loved since the very first time I read it, and will continue to love oh, probably forever. The Knuckles of Skinnybone Tree by hansbekhart. A John POV Supernatural story that brings on the angst and the supernatural and the bittersweet and the love.... She is a writer of Show unparalleled, and this fic in particular...oh, my gods. Originally written in 2007. Has not aged.
There you have it! Three plus a bonus, some excellent fic (I think). Hope someone out there finds something to their liking. And feel free to explore my AO3 bookmarks (there aren't a ton), for other Marvel and Supernatural recs, as well as a dash of Losers, Stranger Things, Buffy, and even an excellent M*A*S*H fic. :)
