EDIT (11/30/10): We've since covered Project expenses and have started to instead gather donations to go to Direct Relief International, in Tabrett's honor. Please look at more recent posts about donations (you can use the !donate tag to locate them) for more info! Or simply click on the Donate Button on the sidebar to give!
Well, like any fun time, sooner or later the bill gets brought over to the table...
Bottom line: we hope to raise $660.86 USD to cover Project expenses.
This Project proved to not be a cheap proposition, but we hope what you're seeing convinces you it will be a worthwhile one. (And hey, it's still cheaper than shipping yourself to Australia to shake Tab's hand and thank her in person! Though admittedly, not as fun - or dangerous.)
This Project will happen no matter what, but recouping some of this money would be very helpful. And if ya'll just go apesh*t crazy with donating bucks, and we actually gather more than we need, we plan on any surplus to be given to a charity (yet to be determined) in Tabrett's hometown of Sydney, in her name.
For anyone who likes the details, I have the break down on expenses and the receipts under the cut.
Otherwise you can skip down and find (what I hope is our own fully functional) brand spankin' PayPal Donate Button. It should be available to International Tab fans, and after hitting the button, you can plug in the amount you wish to give, using a credit card or your own PayPal account (if you have one).
This is my first attempt at setting up a Donate Button like this, so if you have any problems, please let me know.
The Breakdown is as follows:
General Supplies (Joann Fabrics): 316.59
Return (Joann Fabrics): -14.90
Page Protectors (Joann): 63.77
Color Print Outs: 56.40
Estimated Shipping to Tab: 60.00
(includes insurance)
Custom Leather Book Cover: 179.00
________
Total: $ 660.86
Craft-y Stuff (Scrapbook paper, supplies, doodads. Adds up quick.):
Got 2 Scrapbooks initially, cause I didn't know which I was using at first. Later returned one:
Letters etc. (any written word) printouts were free with friend's inkjet printer. Used copy center's laser printer for color graphics etc. They actually ended up giving me virtually half off my total (which is why you see the minuses at the end). And I didn't even flirt. *shrug*:
Needed more page protectors (cause we got so many submissions! Yeah!):
Obviously, don't have the shipping receipt (yet), nor do I have my statement where I charged the pre-payment for the custom leather scrapbook cover, but I can provide that when it surfaces on my bill...
EDIT: Please put your LiveJournal name in the "messages" box when donating, so we can keep track of who we've heard from! Thanks!
We'll keep a tally of what comes in and post it in the side bar at right, so we can all see how we're doing.
Don't think a modest donation is not helpful, cause it all adds up (just like the expenses do)!
Also, if you're in the US, you have the option of writing a check (made out to R.B. Reece) and sending it to the same Ohio address that accepted submissions (look at the "how to participate" post in the side bar for the full addy).
Thanks, Everyone!
